When they say high salary, they are talking 300 THOUSAND dollars per week. You better pray that you move up two divisions if you want any hope of affording that. Otherwise, you'll have a center and not much else!

To avoid these huge salaries for a bit you could begin with training their secondaries. Both of them are bad passers, so why not train passing for the rest of the season. Maybe giving them a couple pops in OD too. After that you can train the inside skill and will end up with great versatile big men.

At least, thats what I'm doing at the moment and I'm pretty excited about them.

I don't want to miss his age of quick training so I'll train primary skills, but if I don't promote after 2 seasons then I'll stop training him.

That doesn't make much sense. Training his secondaries first will give you a great advantage in the long run. His primaries will still train quick enough due to his size. You don't have to rush. Take your time to take advantage of such a potential.

If you really can't afford him any longer, sell him. If you see that coming, get yourself another trainee now with less potential for little money who you can keep. Otherwise you'll wast a lot of potential, i.e. money.
