You could certainly do that. But personally I wouldn't want to play him as a PG because his JS is really low, but maybe it's just me. You could simply play him for unimportant games like scrimmages so that his low JS doesn't really matter. In that case, you could train OD for the rest of this season and train JS and JR next season.

he is only playing as scrimmages at the minute until he becomes better than my other guards

My advice would be to throw one week 1 on 1 training after every OD pop so you wouldn't be on the other end of elastic effect.

That's a great trainee, I especially like his OD and ID. DR is very important for SF, so I would continue 1 on 1 that will give a boost to JS too. JR will also train JS, so you don't have to spend a whole season training JS only like someone here mentioned. With higher Handling you will also make your OD train a bit faster due to elastic effect.
