run a little experiment:

compare the game rating for a given player when they have played a dramatically different number of minutes. say, in one game the player started and was on the court for 40 minutes and in another contest he played for only 15 minutes. the difference in the two numbers can be more or less equalized with stamina.

however, high stamina also means your coach will sub less frequently, and this could have consequences for your rotation.

Keep in mind that too much stamina hurts the players' game shape cause they would play too many minutes. 4-6 is just fine in my opinion.
