I recall that your players still actually play and the stats count, but the score just comes up as 25-0 so you know the other team forfeited. I'm pretty sure "Lucky Fan's" just take the players positions. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Wow you are really quick and pointing out "major flaws" in this game. You haven't really been around enough to really know though.
You don't have to be around all that long to realize that a team being allowed to tank games just to earn money is a flaw.

But I'm not trying to bash the BB people or the game. I love the game. I just think it's a flaw that the GE allows this to happen. Teams can tank and make more money than those of us who are playing to win every game.

But let me tell you how it hurts stats. I've already been burned in a major way over this. At the very end of last season, I had a player rank #1 in scoring per game. A team forfeited on me, and because it gave my player one less game played, he was no longer eligible for the scoring title. I felt cheated that I had worked so hard, and my guy gets bumped off the list because another team fails to have a proper lineup.

But thanks for the info. It is appreciated.

So what exactly did it cheat you out of? I could see the anger if it was a sum of money that you received for leading a stat category, but there isn't. To each their own I guess.

There are plenty of parameters in place to penalize teams for tanking. The salary floor was put in so that teams couldn't completely get away with not fielding a full roster and forces them to pay a set sum of salaries. Also, attendance is hit really hard when you constantly lose so players that tank do not make as much money on home games. They also are relegating which causes them to earn even less money the following season. If they are in D5 then they won't relegate but the earning potential on tanking is not very good.

My point is that you can easily make as much money as a tanking team if you are smart with your roster and your future earning potential upon promotion also helps. Can you tank in certain situations and make bank? Sure, but it is more difficult now than it used to be by far.

And besides, there are many bigger problems the BB's have to worry about right now. Teams tanking is a part of the game, and if they want to lose every game, just let 'em. It's another easy win for you.

The stats don't count at all. The game did play and he had his one player and 4 lucky fans. But all of my players got zeros in their stats. So in short, you were right about everything except for the stats counting.

Thanks for the info.

I do take it serious trying to have my guys among the league leaders, so yes, to have a player of mine lose his spot in the PPG rankings because a team forfeited wasn't something that made me happy.

Maybe I do take it too serious in that regard. But my first goal is to win the game. My second goal is to have star players that have great stats.

But does it not help your team if your player is among the league leaders in stats? I mean, if they make the all star team, or are named MVP, does that not help attendance? I thought it did. Even if it doesn't, I will still always try to have my players up there among the league leaders.

Nope, it does not help whatsoever. There hasn't even been a link to increased merchandise OR attendance for those awards being won.

Honestly, in the higher divisions you usually don't always see the top players leading in stats because managers really try to manage minutes so it hurts their ppg numbers. I am more worried about stats per 48 minutes than stats per game. That gives me a good indication of how my player is performing.

It's okay that you strive to be up there stat wise, but it's really very trivial. The forfeit does not hurt you unless it puts you below the minimum games played mark though.

The one thing I am sure of that forfeits hurt is your training minutes. I had a PG scheduled to play 48 minutes, and a SG scheduled to play 48 minutes, and they both got 43 despite being the only players to play those positions in the game. But it's nothing I can't deal with and fix later in the week.

At the end of the day buzzerbeater is about winning games, and although it's nice to have a player leading the league in something, it's not going to benefit your team in any way. No one is going to think of you any differently based on whether you have a league leader or not. As long as you keep winning games, most of the time you'll be respected.

Not true. My opinion of him -- not only in this game but as a human being -- is based solely on whether or not he has a league leader.

you're right about all-star / mvp not affecting anything. but according to the game manual, having league leaders actually does:
Finally, fans from around the league tend to notice the league leaders, particularly in important categories such as points, rebounds, and assists but to some extent in all categories. If your team has players among the league leaders, you will see a bump in jersey sales from fans of other teams in your league, with an additional bump for the most eye-popping numbers in your country or in all of BuzzerBeater.
