Try "Coach picks from depth chart". You can still get 48 minutes from certain positions, and more bench minutes.

That's the suggestion I like the most. I know you have the "Depth chart until 4th" option, but whenever I used it I haven't noticed any drastic changes.

Those are all good points you guys brought up. It is part of the challenge. I do agree with the minor tweaks. Having a 6th man, or choosing an 8 or 10 player rotation are options. Also, Finishing games is a major problem, there is no reason the game engine should play the starters in the beginning of the 4th and sometimes play the majority of the last 6 minutes with the bench players when the starter is available.

The 4th quarter has many nightmare possibilities. You may end up having subs play too many minutes and lose touch in a close game. Or you can get to the 3 or 2 minute mark without the subs having played, at which point they get in to play 30 seconds, and that results in too many minutes for the starters. Having the option of playing subs in the beginning of the 4th would be a plus in this sense. But it's not the end of the world as it is! :P

More control over managing minutes makes sense. I agree that it would be something to look forward to in the future. But as of now, my main issue with minutes relates to "Strictly follow depth chart" because it doesn't always strictly follow the depth chart in blow-outs.
For example, Let's say I want to play a SF and PF for 48 minutes. So, I would put them in as a starter, bench, and reserve.
Then let's say I want to start a PG, SG, and C. So, I'd put them in the starting slots.
Then let's say I want another 3 guys to play backup PG, SG, and C. So, I put them in the backup slots.
Then in case of a blow-out, I want a young player or scrub to play PG, SG, and C. So, I put them in the reserve slots.
So, what happens if it is indeed a blow-out?
The SF and PF get substituted out (even though they occupy all 3 slots) because I have 3 other guys occupying the reserve slots at PG, SG, and C.
Then how do I feel?
I feel angry with the coach because he didn't strictly follow the depth chart.
