Power Rankings----Conferce Play Complete edition

We had great turnout with 9 of 16 owners submitting rankings! The variety in the votes makes the polls more fun, and realistic as well! There were a couple of guys imparticular I was expecting votes from, and didn't, so there is room to do even better next time time :-) Very interesting factoring in statistics this time around! Little Rock whom may be heading towards being a bot team, and hasn't won a game, actually finished a suprising #13 because despite their 7 losses, are still competing and putting up solid stats. It looks like the Big 8 has bridged the gap a little in terms of competitive teams. Inter-Conference play should be really fun to see how it sets the stage for the final stretch! Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you enjoy this edition of the Power Rankings!

Team Payrolls as of 12/24/12

Arizona Desert Storm $ 709 669
Technical Fouls $ 546 649
Reston Thumpers $ 522 633
Dog River Riverdogs $ 498 614
Beware of Dogs $ 496 369
World Idea Toys $ 482 558
Forza Juventus $ 478 274
Delta 9 $ 456 659
Old Yet Sexy Hippies $ 440 257
10inch Vertical $ 400 858
GS_Warriors $ 385 905
Super T-REX $ 379 057
Arizona Cacti $ 370 882
Little Rock Rimrockers $ 265 670
USA Elite $ 255 277
Burger Chefs $ 197 461

The Power Rankings (Formula includes Owner Votes, 4 statistical categories, and quality wins)

#1 Arizona Desert Storm (9 First Place Votes)-- Running over the league so far and looks to be in prime position to have homecourt throughout playoffs as he plays both World Idea and USA Elite at home this season. (Dunkface)

#2 Forza Juventus---Already one of the bet outside teams in D2, got stronger this past week. (Jason)

#3 (Tie) Technical Fouls----Scary front lines. (TnT)

#3 (Tie) World Idea Toys (1 First Place Vote)---Seem intent on making a serious run at the championship (Dmitri)

#5 Reston Thumpers---Looks like current roster is not final, tons of resource to make a push. (TnT)

#6 USA Elite (1 first Place Vote)---Most unique team in BB continues to work wonders (all while stockpiling enough cash to buy a small country) (Dunk Face)

#7 GS Warriors---Strong balanced team, doesn't seem to ge any respect despite 3 quality wins. (Jason)

#8 Delta 9---Quality squad, but do they have the right player mix this year? (Dmitri)

#9 Dog River Riverdogs---Very solid core team, with great management. 1, maybe 2 pieces away from being a force in this league. (Jason)

#10 Super T-Rex----Decent, balanced team, may be able to stick around if he gets homecourt in the relegation series. (Dunk Face)

#11 10inch Vertical---Was very strong down the stretch last year. (Dmitri)

#12 Arizona Cacti----Better than their record, can compete with anyone on any given day. (Jason)

#13 Little Rock Rimrockers BB Might be losing another quality player. (Jason)

#14 Beware of Dogs--- Incredibly disappointing start for a team with a stacked roster and who probably had some championship aspirations. (Dunk Face)

#15 Old Yet Sexy Hippies---Cruising along, probably more focused on the U21 than his own team. (Jason)

#16 Burger Chefs---Must like his burgers well done because he's getting smoked night after night. (Dunk Face)

#2 Forza Juventus 4.17

Guess I was one of the "foot-draggers" that you spoke about. I'll try to do better next go round:-)...A nice body of work here. Not much that I would change, except I think that both 10inch Vertical and Beware of Dogs might be ranked a bit too low. And perhaps the Riverdogs might be a touch too high. I'm also not so sure that Dog River's management is that on the ball:-) BTW, a very Merry Christmas to a fine bunch of BB managers!

Very interesting to see what the perception of some of these teams are. My personal rankings had differences of 8 spots, 5 spots, and two with 4 spots as opposed to the final list. I don't want to say which teams, but I strongly believe they will start to balance out over the course of interleague play, assuming there aren't a ton of huge additions and subtractions.

Remember though, these power rankings have 6 categories of value, and only 1 are the Votes. So teams that are playing well, and putting up strong statistics get a bump in the final rankings.

I guess the main difference is that I made a point of going back and trying to adjust for homecourt advantage, effort disparity, and point differential gained or lost by intentional punts. Good job on these though, I think we all enjoy reading them and gauging leaguewide perceptions.

Wait a second... Forza Juventus is in second? this rating system is worse than the BCS... (just kidding)

So what determines a quality win? And can we know the secrets behind these 5 statistical categories?

I know I have 5 wins but two came at home with more effort and all my PD came from a blow-out of Burger Chefs. How does that equal second place?

Well, you are tied for the 2nd best record in the league, so it's not out of line for you to be ranked so high :-)

Quality win = Road win, or win against a team currently slated to make the playoffs.

The statistical categories are Offense, Defense, Rebounds, Assists.

You get credit for 4 quality wins....obviously a case could be made that beating a punting Burger Chefs, and absent Rimrockers team on the road is not quality...but then it would become very subjective and start to be just my own personal opinion which I was trying to avoid. Winning on the road in BB is tough, and for the most part, things will average out of over the course of a season in terms of the top teams receiving punts and easy wins etc.

yep, I was one of the teams probably expected to reply, but didn't. Holiday travels kept me off the site with barely enough time to check in. Just a not about my team, predicted free fall is a good guess of what to expect. I have played 5 of 8 games at home and have two losses, so hoevering around .500 is not out of the question. Very stacked league this year. Form and injuries will determine much for the rest of the season.
