That's what I mean, where does it come from? Or is it just guesstimating based on the fact that if you overplay a player his performance will drop to that of a player with lower skills/salary but higher GS

I think that was a remark of mine
It doesn't really need to be an exact science here.
Is it that important to know if 30K plays like 10K, 13k, 15k OR 17k?
NO!
You need the best GS you can get.
Mediocre and he'll play like crap and that team hasn't done a good job.
The fractions of numbers in detail here are frankly a waste of time.

mhmm, I'm asking not because of my own players, since I keep them in best game shape I can (7+) but because when I analyze my opponent's players and they have like a 25k player who has 3 GS I'd like to know if I should TIE or if I can win the game, which helps me place where I want to

I use DMI the same way for relative comparison purposes. For instance, this season my best player never got above Respectable GS before he was injured, and so he dropped to mediocre and now is only at average. He has consistently been outplayed by my other players who are nowhere near his salary but have GS in the 8-9 range.

Again:
You should be able to arrive at a fair approximation without being exact.
Chances are if his GS is 3, the guy sucks!

Great post....I think you are spot on..
Last week I was looking for a BIG to help me with my cup run....came across two players, one was a 179K big with strong GS and the other a 212K big with average GS....the six GS guy had lower DMI even though he had better primaries. So I went with the 179K big due to his DMI and better experience and he BALLED his arse off.
PS. I would also say that if the player is a NT player, 5 GS won't get him into the game.
