Just a quick update, scouting was finished yesterday and all 18 year olds and most of the 19 year olds have had their skills collected. I'm still looking for anyone who is interested in helping offer training advice, even if you don't feel you have enough experience, the enthusiasm to help is what i'm after.

Zeus.

Great win mate. Singapore looked good on paper and them normalling makes it even harder. Brilliant prediction too.

England topple Singapore on home soil England 73 Singapore 64 (1-0)

So we drew Singapore at home for the first game of the season. Looking before the game it looked as though Singapore may have the better side but with home court advantage England looked to start off the campaign right. The new recruits were hoping to show off to home support what they were made of against continental opposition.

On the whole the game was a scrappy one, neither team managing to hold onto the ball very well with 22 turnovers for England and 23 for Singapore. The highlight of the game was defence, neither team really looked like scoring the ball much so it came down to who could defend better. Dexter Young had 5 blocks on the night and helped with defensive rotation on a lot of shots causing a nightmare for Singapore's big men. Harvey Quaid showed his ability to push the ball inside with a team high 14 points. Singapore choosing to normal made the game pretty close, but overall the home court advantage and the correct GDP saw England prevail.

Where we played well

As you can see from the score line we put up a great fight on defence and i was very impressed, keeping Singapore to a combined 19 points over 2 quarters was quite frankly exceptional at the u21 level against good opposition.

Things to improve on

We have to limit turnovers as a team if we want a chance against the better opposition. We struggled to keep the ball when going to the post and we hope to improve this next week vs Bosnia.

So we move on to Bosnia next week, its an away trip so we look forward to that. As always lets keep that GS up and hope for another W. Have a good week.

Zeus.

Ellis pours the points on the Netherlands! England 85 Netherland 73 (England 2-2)

England entertained The Netherlands on the back of two straight tough losses on the road to Bosnia and Austria, both games could have been won in the end which dissapointed the players and fans alike. Ellis and co entertained a tough Netherlands side at home who were also looking to qualify for the KO rounds after a impressive qualifying campaign last season. By half time it was clear that this game was going to be close, with Netherlands edging out just a 1 point advantage. Heading into the third it looked as though England were tiring only scoring 12 points, a look of dismay from former coach Vecx as he looked on from the sidelines. Down 8 heading into the 4th Ellis took over. The foul out of Singh allowed a fresh Harvey Quaid to enter the frey and his energy and ball movement allowed Ellis to get his space on the outside and he took England on a wild run. Zeus told the players they needed to put 30 on the board in the 4th and they would win, they did just that by scoring 32 points. Ellis finishing with a game high 40 points, his second 30 point + game this season.

This was a very important win for England and the players were elated at the win. Onto Costa Rica next week, an enjoyable plane journey ahead as England look to move to 3-2 on the season before two tough home games.

Free Vecx! We want to see him on the court, not on the sideline!

England take care of business in Costa Rica England 102 Costa Rica 60 (England 3-2)

After a strong performance at home last week against the Netherlands, England headed out to Costa Rica in a bid to move to 3-2 on the season. With Costa Rica being the lowest ranked team England would face it was important that they secured a solid win for the PD. Push the ball seemed to work well enough, take out the garbage time 4th Quarter and we'd probably have put up 120+. Other than a tough SG matchup for Johns and Quaid, the offence was solid tonight. A very warm welcome to Steven Soley in his first U21 game of the season, with a game high 21 points and a magnificent +46. England controlled the majority of the game, stepping their mark in the first Quarter by only following the first FG with a mere 1 minute left on the clock, an impressive start which just grew as time went on. Surprising to see Costa Rica use anything other than a tie here but thats their loss, still a +42 is ok here. We needed it going into a crazy hard last 3 games in which i don't expect any blow outs either way. Two tough home games coming up in which i'd love to win both but we shall see, top GS will be required if we want a chance to go 2-0 in the next two games. Next up a home match up vs a solid Georgia side.
