I find it worthwhile to build up 20 points by the All-star break. I then use 10 to see heights and ages and the other 10 to see specific skills (JS-RB or HD-IS, for example). If I see anyone I really like, I buy some points over the next few weeks to scout and interview.
The following players on my team, came from the draft:
Thomas Hampton (1st draft - tallest player in his draft (7'3"))
Bud Muller (1st draft)
Robert Bellamy (2nd draft)
Rich Harrell (3rd draft)
Hampton is my backup Center and starts every other game. Bellamy and Harrell are good enough to be backups, but have better players in front of them, but both have started my cup games this season. Harrell is almost good enough to start in League games. Muller is insurance in case any of my Centers get injured. (When I drafted Muller and Hampton, Muller got injured for 2 weeks and then Hampton was out for 2 weeks, so I like to keep insurance just in case.)
Even if you don't get players that are good enough to play on your team, the first few weeks of the season are crazy with everyone selling their high potential picks. You can make some decent money if you get decent players with high potential and put them up for sale.
