Well, this is one great idea. Setting up a separate user donated fund would certainly help with advertising. Technically, it's very easy to add a donate button somewhere.
As for advertising graphics, at this point we only have some banners and similar images, nothing high res as far as I could find, but we could get someone to do them for us. These existing banners are online here:

Also, I believe, once we set up links to specific already prepared products at a merch company that prints on cups, shirts, etc..., we probably could get a deal with them to send some of the profit into the advertising fund.
I like this idea a lot!
