That makes sense. Yeah, that is a frustrating in-game thing...I've gotten the other team's good players to 3 or 4 fouls early in the first half, and yet they are able to play smart enough to not pick up 5 or 6, even while playing significant minutes.

I think stamina and defense have a large factor in fouls. Even if you have good outside D for guards they may be more likely to foul if the player they are defending drives inside.
I think the pace of the game has a big factor too, and there are high paced strategies for both offense (r&g, push) and defense (press). Fast pace offense against a low stamina team could result in them committing more fouls or more turnovers for fast paced defense. Plus there are more fouls and turnovers in the 2nd and 4th quarters due to stamina. Then imagine if both teams play a fast pace offense vs full court press; both teams will wear out quickly and it becomes a stamina battle. I think man defense and press likely have a higher foul rate.
Then there is supposedly a "hidden aggression" factor and each player has a different level of aggression. High aggression players will commit more fouls than usual but with excellent defense and stamina they will end up forcing more turnovers than their non-aggressive counterparts. I would like to think aggression has a factor in creating offensive plays as well.

As for your staff question, I presently have only minimals for all 3 positions (only about $9K), but as I indicated earlier, staff upgrades will be the first component where I start investing a little more.

How often do you get training skill pops and how many positions are you training?
I would feel like I'm missing something if I had a trainer lower than superior.

Had a great game against BPI and my team was getting demolished early, the only reason I won was because of the face that his play style tends to get him ahead early and hopefully keep it as with the shortened roster he has happens to get tired as the game progresses. Luckily for me, my offensive strategy was patient to make sure I got good shots, and my defensive strategy was full court press, so that I could take advantage of the lowered stamina. Only reason I'm pointing it out is that even though I could have lost (my coach decided to keep the subs in until the last 55 seconds of the game) I ended up having fresh starters pressing a warn out team and took advantage of the turnovers despite the fact that the opposing team had almost a 30 rebound advantage. Great game. Yep, that was probably the difference, also the TO disparity, which is probably attributable to stamina and the fact that I was trying to get a couple of my newbies who aren't that good to begin with 48 minutes. I also hadn't played either of them much the first couple weeks of the season, and McClain's game shape was only mediocre, and Torres' was only average.

That's the second game I've lost by just a single basket (the other being the season opener) to a team playing Normal vs. my TIE.

Considering I'm just trying to get as many guys 48 minutes and not utilizing my depth or balance at this point, I'll take it, even if those burn a little bit. :)

Honestly, I've not had any success at all doing single-position training. I once had a superior trainer that I was paying $70K a week for with an MVP caliber prospect, and for 3 months I got 2 bumps doing single position training by the book. Complete and total waste of time, resources and energy. I could have gotten close to 70 bumps on my entire roster with a minimal trainer doing 2 or 3 position training using things like 1on1, FT, and rebounding.

It's rare I even try single-position training, unless I have been training say ID for a number of weeks and I suspect a couple of my bigs are close to a bump. But as I start re-investing in stronger trainers, I'll start being more selective in who, what and how many I train at various times.

Not going to lie, I didn't look at the amount of effort given before you told me that XD. Yeah I was also going to ask for help about training as well. I'm mostly training 2 or 3 people to be the stars of my team in the ongoing future and I have my point guard there to keep the team from getting demoted. They are 3 players but unfortunately I start all 3 of them at the shooting guard through power forward so it is a bit hard for me to train them well while maintaining their gameshape

I'm a sucker for balanced players. I train whatever skill is lower among my trainees (unless I'm desperate for defense or passing) and I see more pops that way until their skills are balanced and news pops are slow. I've usually had at least one player who gets a skill pop in a single category every time I train that skill. Like when I had Don Bearden, every 1v1 his driving would pop and it was 3 or 4 skill levels above the other skills by the time I sold him.
I noticed that 1v1 gets the most pops. Even though it focuses on driving and handling it still trains all of the position's primary skills. If I did a week of jump shot and had 0 pops I could do 1v1 next and get some JS pops. I do 1v1 about once every two or three weeks for this reason. I've even had some free throw pops doing 1v1 lol.

Once I get my forwards to where I want them to be I'm going to start working on bigmen aka 3-4 seasons down the road. Hopefully I can throw them in 1v1 and see if it works for them as well XD. Thanks for the advice
