I much prefer Simers when it comes to local (LA) sportswriters. The guy trashes everything LA (Lakers, Dodgers, Clippers, Angels, Galaxy). Oddly enough he leaves the Kings alone. I guess there is only so much salt you can pour on that wound. He bashes the McCourts, Buss's, and Phil Jackson daily. Good therapy for me, being a rediculously fervent LA fan.

Something you might find ammusing. At my Fathers house, it is against house rules to use the name of the player who plays SF for the Celtics ever since last years finals. My son accidentaly said his name at Christmas, and my father made him do all of the Christmas dishes just for speaking his name in his house. He can be refered to only as;

The Player who plays SF for the Celtics

or

That Player

My father actually believes That Player faked injury, only to 'come back' to play the next game in order to motivate his team. (last years finals)

I just read Simmons column about the top 40 trade bait or whatever. Interesting, funny, and rediculously shaded Celtic Green. Is there a less objective major sports writer in America? I like how he writes, he hits the mark often, and he makes me laugh. However I have the feeling this guy would get KILLED in my fantasy league, I mean killed. The guy is so high on Durant its funny, qouting stats and comparing them to guys like Kobe. Of course he completely overlooks Durants obcenely high TO ratio, something the all-time players he compares them to makes Durants numbers look silly. Durant's stats revolve around the lack of talent around him. Something Simmons claims about other players he doesnt like as much, but would never mention them about his golden boys.

(Everyone breaks up laughing.)

The funniest thing about this quote is that the road to the finals goes through San Antonio. Howls of laughter can be heard in several cities across the west on this one. After which he praises Pau Gasol, but questions whether any team could win a championship with him at Center. Are you kidding? If the Celts can win one with Perkins at Center, I feel good about Pau (hell even Marc) Gasol being good enough.

I guess it looks different when his shtick is flattering to your teams. He is funny though.

Why does your father ban the name of Paul Pierce?

He should love him. He's a bloated salary on a team that would otherwise be very capable of putting together some talent to actually beat the lakers.
