and yet most teams will take the chance of finish 6 and not have thous 3 weeks of no incomes to tell you the true i was trying to finish 6 but in my game last week i won instead of losing and the team in the 6 place surprised lose so i finished 5

i was trying to get or the 4th or the 6th position! i think 5th is dead position! the worst

It does suck, it happened to me a few seasons back. You have to take it on the chin though, you're guaranteed not to be relegated and let me tell you. I made sure never to finish 5th again!

yeah, you know! i wont too! i prefer to lose some fans and lose games, but go to playouts!

What about the lesser drop in STH for next season, and therefore the much higher income in the coming season that outshines the income from just 1 more match?

but its no difference than finishing 8th, you will also not have any matches just like if you finish 5th, at least if you finish 5th you will be staying in that league.
i finished 6th and was really hoping to finish 5th, yes i agree there should be something for the 5th and 8th position as you dont get an income for a few weeks, but finishing 6th i now have that chance i could be relegated and if i am i cant afford to keep the players i have as my home games wont earn as much and my merchandise wont be as much, so i would prefer to lose 2 weeks income than lose alot more the next season

The two 5th place teams should play each other so they can earn some income in these weeks.

the 8 place at list have a good draft peak i finished 5 and have an 8th place the 8th place can score a great first peak and beside the 8th place did finished last in the season so you do need to get "punished" although i do agreey that one more game if will be issued to the 5th place need to be the same to the 8th place as well
