OK, so here we are, round 2.

We lost last game in round 1, but, as I said, that part is irrelevant. We lost by two points as well

That being said, this is how it ended:
Team W L PF PA %
1 Argentina 5 0 565 462 1.000
2 Canada 3 2 577 508 0.600
3 Colombia 3 2 511 496 0.600
4 Costa Rica 2 3 447 505 0.400
5 Venezuela 1 4 501 562 0.200
6 Rep. Dominicana 1 4 495 563 0.200

Funny thing is that even if we won, we would have finished 2nd.

This is the upcoming schedule:

7/7/2008 6:30:00 PM Canada Brasil
7/14/2008 6:30:00 PM Peru Canada
7/21/2008 6:30:00 PM Canada Ecuador
7/28/2008 6:30:00 PM Canada Uruguay
8/4/2008 6:30:00 PM Colombia Canada

This is what we have to achieve:

2nd round is played from week 9 until week 13. The top two teams in each group advance to semifinals during week 14 and finals the Friday of week 14. The two finalists qualify for the World Championships. The remaining semifinalists as well as the 3rd placed teams in each 2nd round group qualify for the Second Chance Qualifiers.

First game, very tough, Brasil, 2nd highest in the world, undefeated in round 1. That being said, our enthusiasm is better than theirs. They preferred to beat USA in their last game (a game with nothing on the table) instead of focusing on enthusiasm. There is some rivalry between those two countries as Brasil beat USA last time and took the Continental title.

Second game Peru, fairly strong team, they have the home advantage.

Third game, Ecuador, a team that squeezed through first round with 4 losses and a CT in their last game there.

Fourth game, Uruguay, a team that came in 2nd round with same record as ours 3-2. However, I think we should be able to win this one.

Last game will be vs. Colombia, a team coming from same group as ours. They beat us in round 1 (their CT vs our TIE).

I think qualification is possible, which means we have to finish in top 2 teams. That's what our goal will be. In order to achieve this we should not lose more than 1 game and then we don't care about other results. Even with more than 1 we can qualify, depending on how other games unfold.

This is getting interesting.

A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

Yah, well, it's their strategy, we preferred to lose our last 2 games

Edit: Oh, wait... the heavyweight belt...

wow, Brazil is virtualy out... The fact that Uruguay played CT can't be bad for us either. I will analyze more later, now I'm still on the car on the way home.

If the tiebreaker is head-to-head (pretty sure that's the case), then Brazil can't finish higher than third in this group now. That would get them into the second-chance qualifiers. They'll need to beat the hosts PerĂº next week to do that.

It's strictly point differential.
