I'm not sure I agree with limiting player transactions to only those in Utopia.

First of all that makes the game come down to who has the best training method. It will be very one-dimensional.

Being able to buy/sell valuable players is a huge part of this game.

I don't think up to 1,000 players will have that much affect on the market. Especially if they are cash strapped. The first season may come down to who sells their high potential players for cash and who decides to keep to train.

With 4+ of 16 teams advancing in each league I don't think the first season is going to push the limit on the transfer wire that much. I mean we aren't talking about Div II/III type incomes.

I hate the name Utopia, not the concept, just the name. It implies it is better than the other countries.
suggested alternatives:
Atlantis
Artica
Buzztopia
Gattica
Zooland

Agreed. It'll just be as if 1000 new users signed up. And per the Community page, 729 new teams signed up in just the last 7 days. So 1000 new teams doesn't seem that unusual.

Also, there are currently over 5000 players on the TL right now. New Utopian teams will not have that big of an effect on player prices over a season IMHO.

That said, if the BBs want to make a rule to limit the amount of acquisitions a Utopian team can make in its first season or two, that's fine with me. Maybe a limit of 3-4 acquisitions per Utopian team per year. That'd certainly create even more strategy to the already numerous strategic considerations with a new Utopian team.

My bold prediction: Utopia will eventually have more than 1000 users. Maybe I'm just optimistic though.

I think it would be somewhat more fun if buying players the first say three seasons in Utopia would not be allowed. At least not players from outside of Utopia.
How that would be done with starting rosters is somewhat harder to say, but i think it would be more fun and it would not influence the "real" BB-economy either as much as it will do at the start of next season when all Utopia teams are looking for players.

Giving it some thought, I think the first season, atleast, of Utopia would be madness on the low-end market.

For this time I think they should consider FAing all fires in the lower salary range that currently are not being FAd, just for that season.

normally I am against FAs and still think FAs beyond, say, 20k salary mark should not exist. Further I think FAs with salary over 100k should be listed for 10x salary, not 1million. If they have 300k salary, then 3million should be the buy price IMO. BUT for one season, the first of Utopia, they should FA all players under 20k salary.

When 100~1000 (or how many ever) veteran, motivated players sign up for new teams with minimum budgets...it will become a feeding frenzy for quality low salary players. This is fine for the actual Utopia teams, but what about any new users/lower division teams in regular countries? To avoid an unruly price inflation at that level I think something should be done.
