Yeah if we know we won't need 18 players during the season (which is probably the case), then no point in removing him from the roster

For Beaudry, isn't it possible to "protect" him from retirement by putting him on the team? It wastes a spot sure but if he was bound to become a starter next season that's something to consider...

Edit: I know it's too late for him. But if this occurs again in the future that might be a way to avoid losing great players

Well most of the time it's not really "advice", it's more "explain what you do so that we can give our opinion" :)

Actually didnt he say that he will take him off the roster in mid-season? Just straightening it out here. We are all here to help so no need for such comments HTG. Not sure if those are helping anyone

At least I went out of my way to make sure not to point in any particular direction.
The advice was, if you don't know, ask.
Especially before you direct someone to do something.
If let's say the U21 manager took the earlier advice and took Beauchemin off the roster today, then what?
So...I believe that yes, help was given.
We're so touchy here, how about we allow people to voice opinion?
And when we disguise opinion as fact we need to be called out.

He can't be retired because of his salary. He will become a free agent when fired. Know the rules.
