I don't mind what you do after tonights's game I just think the real team should play in the real games. Once it is scrimmage time (although unlike with club scrimmages do count slightly for ranking but it is small) then I can see the sense in starting your scouting and planning for the following season.

Yeah I tend to agree with Yoda. Stick with the current crop during the tournament games and then go for next seasons crop for the scrimmages.

Be decisive whatever you do though, not everyone is going to be happy regardless

Australia takes down arch rival China in final game of World Cup (31238)

The Aussies have finished their World Cup campaign in style taking down powerhouse China 100-97 overnight. It was a tight finish with a 2 point game right up until the last second, where after one made free throw China set up a play. Interestingly, down by 3, they attempted a layup, throwing themselves at the defense in hope for the "and 1" play. Neither the shot fell, or the foul called.

For the Aussies, it was a lucky game to win with the matchup ratings pointing in Chinas favour. But the Aussies dominated the paint to come up winners, scoring an outstanding 27-39 field goals from the power forward and Center positions. It was nice to finish with a sensational inside scoring rating after mixed fortunes with our game shape. Our anticipation of China playing inside was both a boost to them, and probably also the reason they didn't win, or atleast play to their strengths.

MVPs
3 votes- Beausoleil (9-11fg for 18 pts, 11 boards).
2 votes- Doran (7-9fg for 16pts, 5 boards, 2 assists).
1 vote- Flipper (15pts, 3 assists, 2-3 3pters, 1 blk).

Congratulations to Michael Bridgewater and The Knights! for an outstanding season, particularly early on. The captain, Good Grief had a great season, and tied for 3rd were the two 20yr olds, which is amazing given the strength of this seasons 21yr olds. The managers of the players have had regular contact and been very flexible with training ides, so thanks to those who kept me in the loop and allowed me to have input.

I think it has been a very successful season, taking the team to the final 8 in the World Championships, somewhere we have only been once or twice before.

If that is all for the World Cup, then we will look to the 20yr old group for some scrimmages next, and I can then begin some scouting and playing around with next seasons lineup (for whoever is elected).

Thanks to the regular contributors this season, the connection with the NT team and the u21s is quite strong (thanks mllama), and I have loved the occasional input from Kingy, Mickyster, in particular helping me with the NT scouting at the start of the season (huge help, thanks!), yoda with his contributions, and Sid for his comments too. Cheers guys.

Ive put a bit of time and effort into trying to get people reading the updates and match reports of the under 21s, it has definitely sparked a comment here and there, but certainly not gained the attention I was hoping for. I thought the spinning of a tale, in addition to winning games would get people interested, and to an extent it has. If re-elected, it is certainly something Id like to see grow more.

yeah I spent a fair amount of time studying the last 2 votes, Santigoeds was great with 7-10fg in just 19mins, Grief as you said with 9 dimes and a solid defensive effort from the two PGs (but very little else), and even bridgewater, with 12 boards and 4-6 fg was a great effort. But if you look at the players that got votes, they are all deserving too. One thing that held me back on Grief was the fact he had a chance to ice the game with 1-2secs left on the FT line and missed a shot, giving China a final shot at staying in the game. It didnt hurt, but it could potentially have.

Shooting guard was our weakness all season (again!), so it was great to see flipper make that his own towards the end of the season. A couple of 3s, 15pts, and adding 3 assists himself was a great all round contribution. A case could be made for about 7 players though!

I like that way of thinking. Perhaps there is more interest than predicted. Do you read each one weekly?
