Exactly there is no incentive to win the ABBL.
At least in D2 if you go all out and win you get that 1mil promotion money.

In the ABBL all you get is a shiny gold cup, a trip to the B3 and a better Fan Survey saying my team did well last season. Hardly enough to incentive to spend up big to the 1mil in salary per week to try and win the ABBL title.

Save that money and survive another season in the ABBL is a more wise choice for the hip pocket and for the future.
But then again if your goal was to win the ABBL title, then by all means go for it like what WA is a Dump and Whitebeard did.

If you survive this season then I imagine in season 19 you will be a middle of the road team like Monkey and Koop then in season 20 you will probably go for it. It will be very exciting and I hope to be back here then as well, but I will probably need lots of luck, the bounce back isn't always easy as Adam, HSDO, V-Cut and a host of others have found.

Its kind of ironic because HA was the team everyone thought would stay back down in Div 2 the longest

Adam tanked all season 16 in the ABBL and must have had millions in his kit versus HAs negative balance when we both entered div 2 in season 17, but from memory spent 3 or so mill on an 18 year old.

Avalon Jets, Pheonix 5, The Tasmanian Eagles and South Brisbane Voultures from earlier seasons havent bounced back as yet either.

Dont want to boast but last season I really did nail every move I made.

Should HA lose this relegation series I have my doubts that Id be able to bounce straight back.

Partly because I dont have a lot of div 2 type players on the roster and partly because I dont know if I could keep myself motivated to continue playing.

Hence I dont think I have a lot to lose, should I decide to really roll the dice and buy a couple more beasts to defend my spot in the ABBL

Should you relegate, I'm sure you will bounce to the ABBL in no time. You have the wits and the determination like no other in this game.

If you are going to go down, may as go down swinging. Thats what I did in my first season in the ABBL, and I miraculously have stayed up here since.

Oh you want to break Bryce's record for highest total salary?

Well, it's only 1.67m!

Good luck beating that...

Thats an interesting challenge

When you think about it though thats only 4 x 400K players

HA is on the verge of setting another record though

Season 18 is the 17th season of the ABBL and in all those seasons there has only been one team which has entered a relegation series with a positive points difference.

That team is the Bell Park Super Cats who had a 17 positive point difference in season 6 and a 14 positive point difference in season 17.

All other teams who have contested in relegation series games have had negative points differences for the regular seasons

As long as HA doesnt lose by more than 48 points against BHB in the final game, it will have the distinction of being the team with the highest positive point difference to play in a relegation series in the ABBL.

As much as anything this could be evidence that Ive underperformed with an okay team

Poor Datzilla,

Cruelled by an injury to Duffman, he has gone from a warm favourite to underdog in the relegation series against Hadders.

Yes he could buy a rent beast reasonably cheaply to "fill in" but he hasnt been on line since Friday therefore one can assume that as yet he doesnt even know his predicament with Duffman being injured.

No doubt it will be an interesting day on the transfer market as teams look at last minute opportunities to bolster their chances in upcoming finals and relegation games.

Mllama with his recent1.65mill acquisition of a 158K a week PF, certainly looks to be having a red hot go this season

Just occurred to me that if Hadders does triumph over Datzilla and HA is lucky enough to win over Zazz, it will mean that only Yodas team will be relegated from the Great 8.

HA and inparticular Hadders who have both had ABBL experience prior to this season, should be stronger next season which might turn the Great 8 into a virtual "conference of death" for which ever of the 4 teams is promoted into it.

This possible strengthening of the Great 8, could also have implications for the more established teams in the conference as well, with regards as to how they should approach the season.

This ofcourse is all hypothetical and if Shanmag and Datzilla get active on the transfer market today, it may not occur

meh.. I think Zazz has already conceded with the sale of Gary Lawrance.
And I think Datzilla is going to miss Duffman dearly, it will cost him the relegation series.

If only Yodabig tried harder to get that 7th spot, he would've had a chance to survive the ABBL.
Ohh well at least he can go back to Div2 with one of the best aussie PF in the game.

Since the relegation series have been outlayed, now comes the other half of the draw...

mllama with HCA and a new 158k PF or Direwolf with his all aussie NT backcourt.
WA is a Dump or Whitebeard.

I predict the ABBL championship will go to either mllama or Direwolf.
