3-0 Start

Too much holiday partying by the players was evident as people who bet big on Pilipinas U21 having a large point differential was disappointed as they only won by 30 with the final score of 95 to 65 against the Hanguk U21 team. Pilipinas U21 squad outrebounded Hanguk U21 66 to 37 and had more assists 25 to 9. They also held the opponent to a 26 of 89 shooting (29 percent). Point guard Eulegio Contrivida proved he deserves to be the starting pg of the U21 squad with his steady play and playmaking dishing out 6 assists and pulling down 5 rebounds with a 6-8 shooting night ending with 12 points. Starting SF Dispo was again at the forefront in scoring with 16 markers.

"Our players had too many drinking sessions during the holidays. Out of shape and lack of sleep." lamented Lolo Smithz, the U21 Pilipinas Manager. " I will forgive them but after the holidays no excuses anymore as our next opponent is the Iran U21 team who is at 2-1. This will be our first real test against a very good team. How well we play and how much we can beat them will probably determine how strong our team will be against the even stronger teams like China, Taiwan, Australia and Hong Kong."

Murphy's Law: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong

A dejected Pilipinas U21 team could be seen as they exited the arena after a stunning and shocking 91 to 102 loss to the Iran U21 squad. Pilipinas squad who were expecting an easy win was shell shocked as Iran gave their best with their starting PG Mani Ferdosi ran circles around the Pilipinas points guards in the 4th quarter. Ferdosi amazed the crowds with his pinpoint passing enabling the Iran squad to pull away in the middle of the 4th quarter. The crowd were treated to a showdown between starting SF's Johnas Dispo of the Pilipinas squad who scored 22 points, 3 steals and 5 rebounds against Farbod Khosravani of the Iran squad who scored 21 points, 11 rebounds 4 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

"We lost fair and square. The Iran team played with more effort and their players had better game shape than ours. And they passed the ball superbly." Lolo Smithz said apologetically. "Never underestimate your opponent as in basketball they say the ball is round and anything can happen."

"Again my sincere apologies to all the Pilpinas fans for this very disappointing loss. I hope to do better in the succeeding games to achieve our goal of winning the Asian Championships this season."

Ferdosi was just brilliant in that fourth quarter his name just kept drawing up in the commentary .. huge rebound, huge assist, huge score, huge steal.. everything seemed so perfect for him in the 4th. We'll get you back Ferdosi.

We didnt lose fair and square,.....the way you want the readers to believe.....

Iran U21 put more into this game than Philippines U21.

This is more of a lack of foresight on your part to properly assess your opponent.....did you played take it easy? or hard to believe iranU21 played crunch time againts your normal game?

you thought you can easily win againts iranU21.....they prove you wrong.

lucky for you...you can learn from this mistake....and do better next time.

Let us dig a little dipper to better understand the situation and to give us a more keener foresight.

According to the game manual:

Asia Schedule: There are 21 teams in BuzzerBeater Asia. The 21 teams are drawn into three first-round groups of six teams and play a round robin from Week 2 to Week 8. The top four teams from each group are placed into one of two 2nd round groups, with results not carrying forward. The 2nd round is played from Week 9 until Week 13. The top two teams in each group advance to semifinals during Week 14 and finals the Friday of Week 14. The two finalists qualify for the World Championships. The remaining semifinalists as well as the 3rd placed teams in each 2nd round group qualify for the Second Chance Qualifiers.

I would have liked to reiterate more on the pasted above, though the article speaks for itself. But this is an OPEN forum and NT Coaches/Scouts from other countries are reading here.

And so everyone should also not discuss future tactics here.

hmmm...some people are explicitly implying that some of us readers dont know team handling....and proper management of team games within team schedule in context of the more important games againts those that can be let go.

Well, surprising as it is, that others think they know everything and they think those who merely observe lack the proper perspective....they are the one that will be surprise,,,how much we know.

We are not seeking an explanation on why it happened...we know this is an open forum...but what you are trying to hide is very much an open information thus no secret at all. and believe me...what you think we dont know...and you felt the desire to explain...but restricted by your knowledge that this is an open forum....we already know.

If we knew it, remember we are just ordinary BB players...thus you felt compelled to explain....how much more are those NT managers of other countries.

i wish no further participation in discussion about this so i will move on.

I am a person who will admit my mistakes and I admit I was wrong in assigning which players to play the last game. It is your right to criticize me for the loss in whatever fashion you see fit and I wholeheartedly accept your criticism since I admit it was really a mistake in my part also. Pride gets no one anywhere in my book so there is nothing to be ashamed of admitting ones mistake. No one is perfect.

The only thing I ask of you Sir Bungo is this. Don't take everything that is written here SO LITERALLY. We indeed lost fair and square the last game even if the other side played played higher enthusiasm level than us. A loss is a loss no matter how you look at it. I won't discuss with you here the merits of tactics because I know you are very knowledgeable about that. That is all I ask. Please just don't take everything written here even the tiniest insignificant detail and turn it into a political propaganda or whatsoever. I don't think that isn't too much to ask?

We at the U21 do not need to hide anything. Any opposing competent national team manager can easily scout their opponents no matter how they try to hide players and their skills.

We do press releases to inform and try to get other managers to be interested in our U21/NT team so they might help contribute in their own little way. Thank you and good day Sir Bungo.

This is what we expect from you..or any national coach that handle our National team be it the U21...YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY...we are not beaten by a better team....we are beaten because of your action and decisions.....i said our national team ....because it is OUR TEAM because that is the reason we post comments, feedbacks and to some extent criticism...Whenever you lose...we are affected....you didnt do this the first time you report...what happened...you said we are beaten.....because the iranU21 team played better....or several other reasons.....when what you should have posted in the first place was what you had done.

I am sorry if I failed to guess, or to read between the lines, or to assume that you are explaining what happened literally by using easy to understand words....I wasn't able to deduce or to arrive at a conclusion that you are speaking poetically....It is also sad that you misunderstand why I post comments...bothered me too that you are thinking im doing this for political propaganda or whatever....you completely miss the point.

I will stop here now....It is not wise to assume I have shown interest by reading and posting comments for political reason..and ill try not to comment anymore and join the silent majority....you are giving me the impression that you are the type of person that enjoy empty praises from friends who want to gain your good side or camaraderie in exchange for not telling you the truth....unlike someone who dont care if he offend...your sensitive emotions....by telling you what it really is....or what really happened.

You are entitled to your opinion and are free to speak what is on your mind. As I said I assume responsibility for the loss. Sorry if I said political propaganda wrong choice of words.

The Iran U21 certainly played better or the Iranian U21 manager did what I should have done let players with better game shape play starting five. If you read again my press release again and I quote: The Iranian team played with more effort (played with better enthusiasm effort) and had better game shape. Which is exactly true. I did not hide anything from anyone about what I did. It's all in the press release of what I did.

In any game whether its a league game, cup game or international game, any manager has an option to set the enthusiasm level based on the record of his team or the situation he is faced. Whether or not we got beaten by a better or weaker team is besides the point. Any team can be upset by if the situation is right. Our last game was the perfect example. The Iranian PG ran circles around our PG because of better game shape as compared to our PG's.

As someone posted above. I can't go into specifics on what a skill of a player is or did I use TIE, Normal or CT in a game as it is a public forum. If someone wants to know to study a particular game and its tactics feel free to PM me and I might consider the request depending on what you want.

I never denied at any point about my mistakes and I took responsibility for my actions. You and any other team managers can post whatever you like about what I did but it still comes out the same there is nothing to argue about as I admit to my mistake.

Maybe I need someone else to write the press release for people to appreciate. Sometimes how someone writes can be easily misunderstood by readers. If that is the case then my apologies as I may not have the talent to write as good as professional sport writers do.

Please do continue to write your comments. It's your right to do so. I will also try to answer to the best of my abilities also as courteous as possible. Good day again Sir Bungo.

P.S. If anyone wants I can post every Play by Play commentaries you see in the BB viewer after every game. I can do that for people who do not want to look the the game again through the viewer. It's as easy as copy and paste.

And to the MODs reading the posts between Sir Bungo, me and the others please don't delete them. It about a healthy discussion of U21 matters. Everyone has a right to read it no matter what they think is right and wrong. Transparency is all I ask. If I fail then I fail no reasons whatsoever.
