i suppose inane means there was no reason. i am not sure about my english.

if you mean this, i just said it because it's not just a loss. it's their whole season that was on the court and their effort was very little. i found it very normal to get eliminated by much more hungrier teams. but it was really ugly as an effort in general. i am a laker fan too, i didn't enjoy it at all

but after all we are talking about a three peat. not something very easy and common to do .

Sorry 'bout that: I keep forgetting this is a truly international discussion. And it was perhaps the wrong word to use...
But my meaning would be that saying "once again they are blown up in a live-or-die game" is wrong. LA have won the past two seasons, and been in the past three Finals... that statement's simply incorrect.

I hated that game. More for the way they lost than the loss itself, or even... more the way they DEALT with the loss. It was ugly - and not the score, the petulance. Bynum's foul was simply awful.
We all hate it when our team loses, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a tiny bit of shame for LA today.

The foul was really ugly and I hope he gets a severe ban for multiple games next season.

I'm cheering for OKC as well, but hope they can pick their game up again. Last match looked great until suddenly Westbrook and Durant started missing all their shots. Not a field goal in 8 minutes or something. Was terrible to watch.

If not OKC, I would hope for Dirk winning a ring.

after that loss from boston, you knew that the lakers team would bounce back and dominate. not just revenge but domination. the past 2 years they did that, and took their revenge from boston too. after yesterday's loss, i feel there will be a significant change to the team. phil is 99% out, and the frontline probably will not be the same. if a legend like magic says "blow up the team" it sounds serious.

i enjoyed the run this team had but i feel the time came for a change. i still believe that with the right moves next year we can still be strong contenders. kobe's legacy isn't over yet. he has 2-3 years of top basketball to play. if he is surrounded with a bit more youth , maybe he can grab the 6th ring.

for this season, i strongly support the mavs. dirk & kidd are worthy for a ring. let the younger stars fight with each other the next years. i go with the "old guard".

Hmmm... given that they weren't necessarily the strongest team in the regular season, "dominate" might be a lil' overdone.
I agree that there might be significant changes. The points cannot get it done - LA's incredibly weak there. And Phil going out will probably mean scrapping the triangle and going to a more up-tempo offense - something Jerry West prefers.
Prior to the last game, I thought that maybe Gasol had put himself on the block... but I now think they'll keep him. It would not surprise me if Andrew Bynum's played his last game as a Laker. It'd sadden me tho'.

I guess the real question is what happened to Gasol? He went from 18 ppg/53% FGP to 13 ppg/42% FGP. His rebounding dropped a bit too...

I agree that Fisher is getting up there in age, but he played pretty well iin the playoffs (actually picked it up in the playoffs). Steve Blake started the season strong, but was pretty sad by playoff time. Not sure what the Lakers can do at PG...maybe more minutes for Shannon Brown?

I think Fisher has been a liability for a couple of seasons now. He is slow and he cannot defend faster younger guards he faces on a regular basis. If it werent for some clutch playoff shots he has made in the last few seasons people in LA wouldnt be so high on him. The move from Ariza to Artest was actually a step backwards, imo. It's time for Artest to move on as well. If they can address issues at PG and get a smarter and younger SF who would act more like Ariza (role player, not scorer) they wont skip a beat.

It is time to also divorce ourself in LA from the idea that Bynum will ever live up to his still anticipated potential. Million dollar talent and a 5 cent head.........with frequent injury vacations. Maybe some other team will trade us a solid waterboy for him.

I agree with you about Fisher...although with 5 championships for the Lakers, I think he will always be popular in LA. I agree with Ariza vs. Artest...I think Artest is just way too inconsistent from the outside and I'm not sure he's a better defender than Trevor. Might be a better rebounder though.

However, my point was that the reason they looked so bad this playoffs, was not these issues, but the disparity between Gasol performance in the regular season/past couple of playoffs and these playoffs. He is still one of their top players...he just didn't play like that in these playoffs.

Yeah, Gasol looked tired the whole series

3 seasons of going deep into the playoffs has taken a toll

Agreed on Gasol.

Fish too. I think the time's come to move him to the bench - as a coach. Guy's good 'n' all, but he's a liability when it comes to defending the association's elite points.
Additionally, I think Buss'll use Phil's departure to move to a faster offense. I'd say the triangle's gone. The two guys who knew it best (Phil/Tex) are gone, and Jerry Buss has long desired to move back to a more 'showtime' style.
I think there'll be changes tho'. I think that LA will be looking to make some very big line-up changes during the off-season. I'd be astounded if Mitch Kupchak hasn't already called Otis Smith.
