Buckeye, like I said I'm not basing my opinion on purely team success.

What do you know about running a NT?

Have you even signed up for the USNT offsite before?

Can you name members of the USNT staff besides Jfarb, Namssor, and SpF as they have been mentioned in this thread?

Do you know the set up of the NT tournaments?

Without looking at a game recap, do you even know the key USNT players?

I could go on and on with questions, but these will suffice for now....

Hey namssor, good to see you're running. I'll stay away from 2-3 questions, so here it goes:

What do you think (besides ID) will put our roster over the top of say, a Chile, or an Italy?

I'd say ID with a sprinkle of ID and a dash of ID thrown on top :-)

But seriously, we just need more (or at least a few) well-rounded big men. There's an argument to be made for having all these big-man specialists, but I'm not a fan. Though I do actually like them in backup roles depending on the situation. But basically every other top country has a few 18/18/18 (IS/ID/REB) big men - at a minimum - at their disposal. We're NOT EVEN CLOSE to that. It's certainly distressing. I know we have a few youngsters who could be on their way there, and I think it's vitally important that we work with their managers to get them to this level.

The other part is GS management. We seemed to be at a wild disadvantage in this category in almost every game we played. This is likely due to other countries owning the majority of their NT players so they have a vested interest. Again, I would work with every owner of an NT player to make sure they manage their players properly. It benefits everyone when our players are in good GS.

While I agree with your questions (thank you for saving me time), not many people know anything about that first question. And buckeye, if you were on our offsite, http://s3.zetaboards.com/BuzzerBeater_USA_NT/index/you'd know that we value FTs. Passing and driving are not underrated by anyone on our site.

When was the last time we won Worlds? Election after election people just assume that the person in the tougher league is the better manager. Yet the "better manager" can never go above and beyond any other USA NT. Everytime one of you says I cannot become the manager motivates me to become the manager and do a better job than any of you could. Yes I went 3-19 in league III but losing can teach you more than winning. I learned better enthusiasm and game shape management, as well as the importance of the little things, like passing, handling, driving, stamina, and free throws. My road to the NT would be very hard and I would have to go against adversity giving me a motive to do good, while the "better manager" would have it all made and have motive to do good for his country but nothing compared to the motive of wanting to prove someone wrong. So if you want to vote for the better manager and be contend for a title go ahead.

Just some free advice:

1. There is a much greater range of possible outcomes than "Won Worlds" and "Lost Worlds." Obviously, you'd like to win every time, but lumping together every possible non-victorious result minimizes the difficulty of the task.
2. These folks aren't managing against bot teams or slack-jawed yokels; NT teams are generally comprised of super skilled players and coaches with the tactical chops to provide a real challenge. Expecting to breeze through this as if it were D V.Whatever in Krapflingistan is unrealistic.
3. It's good that you've learned about the game, and more credit to you for that. But surely you're not the first and only person to have lost games, and to have learned from them.
4. You can't possibly speak for anyone else's motivation but your own. You sound super enthused, and that's great. I don't see how you could possibly win, personally, but other than having a single vote, my opinion on that matters not one bit. But if you really are enthused, if you don't win, get involved in the offsite (if you're not already; I really don't read the NT stuff yet because I am simply not to that point in my development in this game). A campaign based on: "I haven't really been involved in the NT. I'm adequate. Vote for me!" is not inspiring.

...and now we have a 2nd worthy candidate.

Okay so here is my questions for the candidates.

1.One of the keys to the success of the Polish and Chilean NTs this season is the fact that most of their NT players were in the hands of members from the respective countries. I believe this is something we need to have happen to get over the hump. How do we accomplish this in the US?

2. What else do we need to do in order to get over the hump, and how do we achieve these things?

1. I believe with the network of people I am close to, that I can not only encourage this, but make this happen going forward. I agree that nobody is going to care for our own players like we do. Especially with so many top level coaches choosing to blow up their team and start over, what a perfect time for this!!

2. The progress that Jfarb has made with a quality group of people that care about the program, putting in the time to scout, study tactical choices from our competition etc, has helped move us in this direction. There needs to be a continuation of that. As people start to see the progress our NT team is making, and we have even more more pride in the team, you will see more of #1 happening as well.

The problem is, we've already seen good enthusiasm management from past NT managers, and unless you decide to buy the entire national team off of the transfer list, there's not much you can do with game shape management. The way to improve the team is to get more managers to know how to train players, and train them relentlessly no matter what kind of salaries they have to pay. For this to happen, we need more people to be joining the offsite forum because that's the best place to get training advice, and you haven't even joined yourself. My advice is to join the offsite forum, and participate in helping out the NT/U21, and then you will gain more respect from top managers, along with becoming a better NT manager candidate.
EDIT: I see a few people beat me to the ideas, but it would be helpful if you joined the offsite.

Do you understand the financial stress of holding onto a Medrano or Bronson? Saying you'll put more NTers on US squads is easier said than done, especially with the weird phenomenon of people paying more for US players.

Hahahaha. Atleast we can all have a little fun. The question I have is what can I do to help the US NT win the championship?
