Awesome stuff, Skyhookz. I'm about to start training for city to surf again. I've been very unmotivated due to stressful home life this year but sick of the excuses. Time to stop talking baout and just do it!

That is the spirit Matty! I read somewhere the other day that stopping the excuses is the first step people have to take...

Look, when it comes to focusing on something...mental will power if you like...I'm extremely good at it. I just have a period prior to it where I'm kind of 'building'. That is, I know I'm about to go for it and enjoy the 'not going for it' before I go for it! Confused? lol I'm spinning shit now.

D-Day: Monday 20/2/2012 (training begins)

Nice.

I'm currently 105 kg. Last year at about the time I did the City to Surf I was 95 kg. Not the best of holidays! lol

I'm 5'11 or a touch over 6'0" with shoes on so I'm definately overweight for my height. I believe it should be about 80-85kg although I don't mind having some bulk. I'm going to be a little more serious this year and am aiming to get to and stay around 85-90kg. we'll see what happens.

The mind is the most powerful thing on this planet. You want to get to 97 bad enough you'll get there...it really is that simple. However, the 'doing' part is far from simple...as you already know I'm sure...

Same height for me but I'm 110-115kg, I've used the excuse of injury for too long I think. Just injured my foot a couple months back too but I'm looking to get back on track again as well. You guys are motivational

Injuries suck. Will hopefully getting shoulder surgery this year so I can get back to tennis and basketball. In the meantime, running is great...shoulders don't matter...

Actually Matty, you would be surprised... I have completely and utterly changed my lifestyle in 6 weeks... I am not trying the latest fad diets or anything like that, i have completely changed everything... Junk food simply doesnt tempt me at all any more!

The 2 hardest lesson i guess i have had to learn, are

1) you dont have to fill your belly every time you eat something.. If you eat the right foods, you can actually eat less than when you eat shit.

2) you absolutely dont need a gym membership to exercise and get fit.. Plenty of footpaths and parks around, just need a pair of joggers... I have gotten more use out of a $100 pair of runners in 6 weeks, than i got out of a 12 month gym membership. It is easier to get off ass and go for a walk or run around block, than get up and drive to a gym.

I used injuries for a long time to Leeroy.. I injured my back 15 years ago... and still use that excuse.. Would swimming be an option for you with your foot?

Yeah that's a good idea, my dorsal action is quite lacking so that should hopefully get better
