This may be a surprise, but outside offenses sometimes have guys who are supposed to have good chances to score based on their skills and matchup, and have good PP100 ratings based on that, who still go out and shoot 25% or less. On the bright side, while outside shooting teams have that disadvantage, and the disadvantage in training speeds and in salary costs, at least they don't get the benefits of additional rebounding or FTs like an LI team does! =P~

There are 19 shot events in the game that I know of. I think more analysis is needed to understand what works and what doesn't for an outside offense. Personally I would like to see team rating defense on open shots reduced and that will help outside teams and teams that sacrifice shooting for flow. I'm pretty sure this would help outside oriented teams and, in any case, it makes no sense that a guarded shot has higher chance to go in than an open one.

I almost have all the play-by-play of the 176 EBBL games (for some reason I can never get all 176 in one go, some are always missing) from s39 split by single event with defender, outcome, etc, then I will start running some checks on defense and type of shot. I expect some shots to have higher FG% than others of course and some shots to be more frequent than others. Interestingly there are 3 type of putbacks and I assume some may have different FG%.

These are the shots anyway and the way I think they are categorised (the one I'm not sure of is fade away, as it is probably in between a jump shot and an inside shot):
CORNER_THREE, 3 pointer
WING_THREE, 3 pointer
STRAIGHT_ON_THREE, 3 pointer
VERY_LONG, 3 pointer
HALF_COURT_SHOT, 3 pointer
WING, Jump Shot
TOPKEY, Jump Shot
ELBOW, Jump Shot
BASELINE_J, Jump Shot
SPINNY, Jump Shot
FALL_AWAY, Jump Shot?
DRIVING_LAYUP, Layup
LAYUP, Layup
HOOK, Inside shot
STRONG, Inside shot
DUNK, Dunk (DUNK_MISSED, Dunk)
PUTBACK, Putback
TIPBACK, Putback
TIPBACKDUNK, Putback
FREE_THROW_MADE, FT (FREE_THROW_MISSED, FT)

I'll take this to another thread. I will try to add tactics to it but that information is not on the pbp.

How this is explained? (99374153)
Easy.

1) He put more effort then you.
2) You had just 5 players, all playing 48 minutes, he had 10 good players they rotated.
3) Your offensive flow is really really low.
4) His worst player on the game had the same rating as your best one (9.0), all his other players where batter then that, from 11.0 to 15.0.
5) You had 26 turnovers...
6) By the ratings after the game, the only parameter you where batter then your opponent is Inside Scoring.

This should be enough I guess, cheers and good luck in the rest of the season!

This is where we hold them!

Low flow, low passing, too many turnover, low quality of shots. Plus he tried harder than you, (normal vs tie, CT vs normal)

More than others have already explained, ratings in a blowout are always misleading as your opponent's ratings would have been much higher if his starters kept playing

So. How do you know you are better in rebounds? Ratings says different. He had HCA as well, we dont know about enthusiasm, maybe crowd involvement coach as well for him? These are factors in his favour. He was very good at rebounding, he crushed you in rebounds (cca 86% to 55%). That is HUGE difference. On the other hand he had 8 more turnovers what helped you.

Now matchups:
POS/OFF (pts)/DEF (pts)/NET (pts)

PG/0,87 (13) / 1,91 (21) / -1,04 (-8)
SG/ 1,17 (14) / 1,08 (14) / +0,09 (0)
SF/ 1,56 (28) / 0,72 (13) / +0,84 (+15)
PF/ 1,11 (10) / 1,04 (24) / +0,07 (-14)
C/ 1,14 (25) / 1,18 (20) / -0,04 (+5)

You were more efficient at SF and slightly on SG and PF. But you ended up +1 in pts only! He was better at PG spot and slightly at C and that gave him +3 pts.

Your guards lacks inside shot (and at least Upeslacis defense?) while your opponent has these spots covered, your guards are more drivers without IS,ID and his are more IS,ID players. His PF was the key pretty much. He defended very well your PF, but your PF was pretty efficient anyway (maybe from pass shots?). On the other your PF had problems in defending his PF (his own shots).

So combination of AWAY game (enthusiasm, speciality coach) and not most suitable tactic from your side were the biggest reasons of your lost. He is built up better for tactic used and you couldnt manage to exploite more of his problems like SFs OD and maybe bigs OD. Your center looks better than his..

Well maybe didnt put it smoothly. Upeslacis may be good in inside but he might have "unnecessary" high other skills, like JS that tend him shoot from outside more than from inside. Shuochao was 5/6 from inside while had total 10 shots. Upeslacis was 1/1 from inside with 8 total shots. That says Shuochao is pure inside oriented PG and therefore was more suitable for this tactic. Similar applies to Kern and Gurleyen with only 1 inside attempts what is very low for inside attack. Madera (his SG) was 3/3 from inside. That indicates high jumps to compare to inside? And about ID, Upeslacis had 4 leaks on those 6 Shuochao´s attempts.. I dont want to reveal or try to reveal too much but I guess your opponents dont read this thread.

Rebounds were obviously the key, so i guess enthusiasm was also difference, besides mentioned HCA.

Good luck
