Defence! Defence wins championships! (Disclaimer: Provided you can score...)

Yeah, sounds like you've got the right idea. As iwen says though, don't forget the defense!

indeed. Good defense leads to easy offense :D.

Thanks for the advice.

Btw, is there a youth academy sort of thing? (i.e. you invest in 'training sessions' and recruit a player who gets created). Its a luck based system that is in place in battrick, so I was wondering if it was here.

Also, how many training sessions a week?

Nah, there's just the one draft per season. Everything else focuses on either training your players or buying/selling.

There's one training session a week, currently 7:30pm on fridays for us Aussies.

awesome, thanks mate.

edit1: I was just watching my game. It said, after a player on the opposite team fouled out, 'lucky fan' has come in.

Is he completely horrible at everything? or is he Kobe Bryant?

edit2: well, just finished my game with a pretty convincing victory. Surprising numbers actually, 4/5 starters with double doubles while one of them got a triple double. 3 lucky fans on the court near the end of the game helped, I guess :D.

edit3: An issue of concern:- how come my bench has not played nearly as much as it is generally expected? My started played 47 mins at C while the bench player played only 1 min. Now, the game was not too close either, so in the middle quarters I see no reason as to why the coach didnt sub him off. You rarely witness even stars playing more than 40 mins in the nba (unless absolutely necessary)

edit4: I think this might be the reason: I put my starters also in backup and my bench in reserves. Perhaps bench goes to Backup and reserves are the 3rd string (2 players)

When does the softcap of the potential take effect?
Because, should I be looking for MVP 19YOs as opposed to Allstar (i.e. for a new player is the increased value worth the returns)?

Soft cap for MVP is about 195-230k and for allstar its about 43-65k. So an allstar can still become a good player but would cost a lot less to get on the transfer market.

Yeah thats the estimated wage soft cap according to potential. Training slows when it gets near those levels.

The higher potential will mean a player can obviously get to higher levels but MVP potential players are rare and the good ones cost a lot of money which will be out of your range probably. I think up to potential all star would be affordable and you could train them up to a decent level. You can still get a lot of training done on the players at that level before the training slows down.

ahh.... I understand now. That is quite high a wage, so I guess I need not worry about that until my players become much better (in seasons to come). Right now, Allstar/Star will be good enough to pick up on the TM and train. Thank you both.
