I wasn't saying 4th seed shouldn't profit. There was a nice suggestion to double revenue for play off games.
So 4th get 2/3 while 1st get 4/3 and so on..
But I strongly believe 1st should profit a way more than 4th. 4th can get 6th, 7th draft pick easily and in many leagues it's a very decent pick. 1st will get nothing in the draft.
Why should the 4th seed be entitled to the same revenue as the 1st? This is absurd!

First should be able to profit way more than fourth assuming they take care of business and win their playoff games. I suppose the difference is that I think the playoffs should be more about determining a champion, and that the financial footing for the playoffs should be fair for all teams, and then let the additional revenue go to those who earn it by winning postseason games. I can only assume that you believe that the postseason is there to give a bonus to teams for finishing in the top spot, and if they should so happen to actually have playoff games to crown a champion that shouldn't get in the way of rewarding the top team.

In the top league of any country, the 1st place team will get more money than the others. This is not good for game balance. In the lower divisions, the top teams promote out anyway; there is nowhere for them to go in Div. 1.

A good point! But the top teams in the top division still have to withstand new promoted teams which have tons of cash and which just surfed on a promotion wave from the lowest division.
It seems hardly plausible though to adapt the rules to one league out of hundreds, be it the top one. Maybe there should be a different set up in the top league compared to the rest..
and again, even if it's more likely the 1st seed reaches the final rather than the 4th, one cannot build a system on likelihood.
You want to build your arena if you know you're getting 2/3rds of the revenue. If you know you have to give a half away to a team with an arena half as big and who spent the money on the play-off monster hires instead, you won't bother. and you feel injustice :)

Yeah, good point. Maybe we need to see if BB can change the rules so the new seats you build don't disappear at the end of the playoffs.

While top teams just break even, you can earn 100-200k a week. Then you buy a couple of monsters just before the play offs with the cash you earned. + you get as much or even more revenues thanks to the new system.

You're talking about $42353 per home game. A team in fourth place probably has had lost more than that amount in their gate receipts after a loss - heck, I was in second or third pretty much all season, but once my win streak wore out I lost that much in gate receipts PER GAME the rest of the season.

And please, if someone's going to buy monsters based on pulling $127059 from your stadium for a playoff game, they're doing so because they are planning on winning it - and they would have done so for the $84706 they would have gotten from the old system.

But please, show us these teams that are earning the 100-200k per week by coasting on your coattails. Well, not yours, since neither of your fourth-place teams in III.6 would fit into that category. It's almost as if you're not identifying this as a problem because it exists, but because you're not getting quite the sweetheart deal that #1 used to get. Show us the fourth-placed teams abusing the system, the teams who are avoiding first because it's "unjustly less attractive", prove that it's a problem for the game and not just for you.

There is a new tactic out there to maximize the GOODS of what a good season really is..
1st..Try super hard in the cup!!
2nd...You win all your ROAD games...that is 11 wins including a road RIVAL game and a road TV game/games...what this does it gives you max balls on your Fan survey and by winning all your road game, it juices your attendence for the next Home game. (unless you have back to back home games)
So now you have 11 wins so now the next important games are your home rival game and your home TV game/games
You have 3 TV games a season..sometimes 2 are on the road or two at home.
So you finish the season at 13-9 or 14-8 depending on TV games and these should be good enough records for 4th place....
Also, you must try and finish below the other sides 4th place team..WHY you ask?? easy answer..You will be the 1st playoff team drafting in the draft, probably with the 9th pick(this will only work if the other side is balanced). The draft placing is from regular season records...
And last...you juice your roster right before the deadline and smack up the #1 seed in the playoffs. Now that the gate is a 50/50 split....doesn't matter what seed you are when the playoffs start, as long as you win the championship.
Also, you might want to buy a National Appeal PR guy to lesson the HCA that all teams will have on you in the playoffs.
In a nutshell....finish 4th, Win the championship with a juiced team, draft 9th

Take the 2nd and 3rd place teams..even know the 3rd place team is giving up HCA, he still gets the same take of the gate and a better draft pick
Old system........2rd gets HCA and 66% of the gate> 3rd get 33% but a better draft pick
New system.......2nd gets HCA and 50% of the gate= 3rd gets 50% but a better draft pick
Most people would almost rather finish in 3rd now...as long as you know you can beat the #2 in a 1 off playoff game.

Allstar with decent starting skill sets)..So now the 4th seed on either side gets a shot at a decent draftpick maybe picking 9th or 10th. And if you upset the 1 seed, he is doomed with a low draft pick and only 50% of the gate. And the only downfall of finishing 4th is...going on the ROAD to win games.
My conclusion is this...If you juice your team at the deadline to over come HCA, 4th is the place to be...

Gee, and yet the two fourth place teams in your league combined for one late purchase (though admittedly, the fourth place team did pick up a nearly 200k player, there are already 3 players over 100k on that roster). And the first place teams still won, as they are in most every league.

Have you seriously seen just how unprofitable most everyone considers the draft to be? And yet you seem to think that people will throw away revenue during the season to get to fourth place in order to maybe move up a few spots in the draft order for the very small chance of getting a draft pick worth what they paid in scouting points?

The playoffs are not set up as an economic reward for your place in the season. They're set up to determine champions - the footing is now even for all playoff teams (as opposed to before where the #1 could load up because they would expect double the receipts from the games). Now, instead of being guaranteed more money just for finishing first, teams get more money by, get this, winning games to get additional games. The old system made it so #4 would still operate at a loss even if they won the opener, which is ridiculous. First place teams earn plenty of money due to increased fan survey for the current season and for the next one, so if putting them on merely even footing financially in the postseason is inconvenient that's too bad.
