almost $60,000

Go with level 1 PR. Level 2-3 Doctor and level 1 Trainer at the absolute highest.

I believe that the biggest mistake that people in the lower divisions make is thinking they need to have high staff levels when it's generally a complete waste of $$$. In the lower divisions, the #1 goal needs to be to make a profit and increase your bank account and that means that you need to cut where needed on all your expenses. If you don't, you'll simply never promote to the next level.

To comment on the level 1 trainer, right now you don't have anyone special worth training so spending a lot of $$$ on a trainer would be a complete waste but the players you do have will still train just fine with a level 1. If you acquire a better player to train in the draft or otherwise then re-assess your trainer.

Why can't you still learn how to train with a level 1 trainer?

I think people have this preconceived notion that a level 4 trainer is going to train players twice as fast as a level 1 when the difference is actually only 24%. So if you get 12 pops over the course of a season from your level 4 you'll get about 9 pops with a level 1. Even with a low level trainer, the player being trained would have to have fairly high potential (superstar +) to not cap out if you start early enough.

In this case, the person I gave the advice too doesn't have anyone on his roster that would require a high level trainer. Heck, one could still get a level 3 trainer for under $10,000 a week with minimal effort.

?? So you don't consider 12 additional skill pops by age 22 significant? We can debate if it is worth investing the extra $9,000 per week for a level 4 vs level 1 trainer. Maybe it's not worth it to stretch out the training time an extra season or two.

Sure it's significant, assuming that you have a player that's worth training and you plan to train him for multiple seasons instead of just getting a few pops and then trying to sell him at a profit. But if you're training a star or all-star level player I think you're going to cap the guy our so quickly that it won't make a huge difference if it takes one extra season plus it's possible that you haven't created a very profitable player anyways.

It also has to do with what you can afford. Heck, I'd love to own a level 7 trainer if I could afford to both buy one and pay his weekly salary but I decided that wasn't going to be a worthwhile investment in my current situation. Level 4 is affordable for most divisions if you keep flipping your trainer every 15-18 weeks but for the guy I was initally responding too, I would go with a level 1 trainer and start building up my arena with the savings.
