That's why my strategy for this series has been to pound the paint each game. At this point even with guesses it's just too strong fouling his guys out and other offenses don't accomplish that as well. But I will say dealing with a 6 man roster like his is no joke. I know BB wanted to start making changes to the low roster size teams which dominate at the highest level of play but they were never really made. I built my 8 man roster around that premise and it hasn't paid out yet. Lackey is really the only one who has the edge against his guys full strength and my backups coming in game 1 were a solid -10, -12, -5 for the 10 minutes they were in.

We'll see if that strategy actually pays off tonight. I have a feeling that with the game shape difference it will play out a few more points to my favor in comparison to game 1 but if not then I'll say that I tried and will need to retool a strategy for next season.

Either way this goes, it's been one hell of a finals series Chek and I hope to meet you back here next season! I'm sure a lot of the other managers will have their own opinions on that however. NBBA is strong as ever!

Going inside to draw fouls makes sense. I've done the same in the past; however, it didn't work as I intended as the foul prone player I had hoped to get out of the game went the full 48 minutes to my dismay. Ironically, one of my players fouled out -- which was rare.

It looks like Chek got a correct inside GDP which took some of the air out of your strategy. That's the risk of going inside in big games: that's the most commonly predicted GDP. And being on the road and having a correct GDP against your team is a real game changer.

The way this series has played out has been weird. I don't think anyone knew who was going to win game 3. Actually, I think most of us were leaning in favor of Apex -- even Chek seemed to be leaning that way. I think game1 was a bit misleading due to the scrubs coming in and playing significant minutes. Credit Chek for getting the correct inside GDP and having some luck to boot. It looks like his team is running away with it. He found a way. HCA and the reverse-PI w/ Morlsa may have been too much too handle. Interesting result.

Silver lining: both managers won titles this season and both should be proud! Y'all built some great teams and the final series was entertaining. I expect no less in future seasons. Congrats fellas!

None of your players fouled out? You lucky bastard. Haha. Congrats, man! Well deserved. I'm sure you went through quite the scare. Apex built a strong team and of course yours proved to be every bit as strong. It was a great series for sure.

I just checked the boxscore. Apex had two guys foul out both in about 30-36 minutes or so. Oh, the irony. Tis life. The GE strikes again. It looks like Mrosla fouled out the bigs that were guarding him. Chek's plan worked out. Well executed plan game plan. I mean, having to guard Mrosla is a game killer (particularly for a big of course).

Wow. First of all, awesome series Apex.

Looks like the reverse patient worked wonders. Had never tried it before, but looks like it should maybe have been a go-to. Unlucky with your foul outs, I honestly am baffled by the fouling in clutch games. All season I hadn't been struggling with fouls, but all of a sudden it hit like a truck, and then just... didn't matter in the last game? Your team is killer, and I feel like you will dominate the league next season.

And to your point A-Dub, I had been running a 7-8 man roster all season, but consolidated in the last few weeks with the mindset that risking injury for 2-3 weeks wouldn't be too big of a risk (wrong).

Now I just have to decide how to avoid bankruptcy for next season. I wish I had kept my trainee J. Ledbetter and not acquired this Iranian center. Too expensive and lost my training exemption.

Thanks for all the support! Special shoutout to Mediocrity for the reverse patient suggestion.

Sounds like it's "money ball" time for you. You gotta think get conservative and offload huge salaries for cheaper, more efficient players.

You mentioned the reverse patient: that tactic is the reason I had bigs with 15-16 OD, because I didn't want to be caught with my pants down and be exploited. I sacrificed rebounding for OD at PF (Elbert Ray), which also helped me save money. It's harder to save money now that most D1 players are all 150+TSP now.

Adub: Yeah it happens, honestly the biggest mistake was not dswapping Lackey and Timmons. One has significantly better OD than the other and would have helped. Foul outs happen and aren't preventable, that one was.

LP was actually tactically ran to dodge what I was assuming to be an LI 2x guess. I wanted to run it inside even with the guess just trying to get the pace 2x miss.

I'm pretty baffled that my guys struggled to keep up with yours at this GS. Graham at 7, Bales at 8, Ansarifard at 8 (going 6-7). Lackey at 9GS but up a horrid 5-15 and was pretty useless on the offensive end all series.

Chek: Congratulations on the W, great win! Nice work on finding the reverse patient and zone to get out of that. Reverse patient ate me up inside pretty well and the zone kept you out of foul trouble. I think without the zone, I would have been able to catch someone in foul trouble but that did a good job of sprinkling the fouls across your team.

I'll see you and everyone else in here next season!

I probably switched my lineup a dozen times throughout the day, so I am glad I stuck with the zone and reverse patient. I agree that the GS looked miserable for me, and I am surprised I could pull through even with the garbage GS. You clearly managed minutes better, I think every single one of your guys was at 9? Impressive.

Edit: Also, I like the idea of going LP to avoid the double guess, which worked, but I wonder if the slow pace of that offense against my 3-2 is what made it so hard for your team to score. I've found that if you are going LP instead of LI that you are making a bet on your passing game, which I think is hard for a lot of teams in today's meta. With Bales at PG I have had some success with slow tactics, but usually I think they get eaten up by teams with high OD.

I think that's a good analysis of the game as a whole. I'm looking to make some lineup changes for next season that should make my roster a bit more versatile. I noticed your flow was significantly better than mine even given your GS. So there for sure is a PA disparity that helped you out throughout the series.

But hey, there will be 2 solid USA teams going into B3 competition next season so hopefully you and I can get a few wins for the USA here.

Man thank goodness that 'Lebron Slams Up' team is gone. Was tired of facing them.

Who's this Atelier guy?
