Mate I had a new team with crappy created players and not a lot of money. You do realize you start in division 4. I don't need a team of all time greats to cruise by div 4. That player of yours was cheap, decent for my div, and would have added good depth for a cheap salary as well.
Now let me ask you, did you take all that into consideration before posting your silly comment?

Silly comment? Righty-o then. Allow me to explain...

Mate I had a new team with crappy created players and not a lot of money.

Yes, you did.

You do realize you start in division 4. I don't need a team of all time greats to cruise by div 4.

This may sound ludicrous and unbelievable, but once my team was new and crappy too, and I bought crappy players and made poor training decisions. Took me several seasons to learn the errors of my ways, and I'm still learning.

That player of yours was cheap, decent for my div, and would have added good depth for a cheap salary as well.

That player of mine was crap, not decent for any div, and there were far better players on the market for a very similar price. Frankly I was amazed anyone bid on him - I was going to fire him, then I decided to sell him in the hope someone would be sucked in by his potential. He had glaring flaws and for about 5-10K more, you could have got a far better guy. The mere fact that you were chasing him and that you think he was a good player shows me you're not ready to coach the U21 NT - you're making the same sorts of poor decisions I made at the same time.

Now let me ask you, did you take all that into consideration before posting your silly comment?

No, clearly not :P

If you're going to nominate for the U21 position without anyone knowing you, without doing a speech, without winning anything, and having been in the game for a few weeks - people are going to make comments about it. In addition, you named yourself after the BuzzerBeater's Best tournament, and it implies you think you're the best. Whilst you may not mean to offend anyone (as you said in your own thread), it still suggests arrogance and that's not a good thing, in my view. You obviously feel differently, and that's fine. With respect to winning the basketball sim you played in the UK, well, that's good, but I can't see how it's really relevant here at all. Googling that sim produces exactly 0 results so I can't imagine it's quite the same as here with 50,000 users.

New people come into this game often, are really active and keen, and then disappear after a season or two. Stick around, advance through the divs quickly like, say, yodabig, and then I'll really start to take you seriously. You gotta walk the walk before you can talk the talk.

Also, your name "The BuzzerBeater Team" also sounds like the sort of name someone who is trying to pretend to be an admin would pick, and given that you didn't post in the forums and I'd never heard of you, I was distrusting of you.

Now you can see what I thought when I saw you were running, had no idea who you were, and saw you'd bid on my crappy player, when I framed my "silly" comment. Now that we have this all out in the open, let's end it here too - I'm not trying to be a jerk, just explaining my thought process. I welcome you to BB, and I really do hope you stick around for a long time and claw your way to ABBL - I can tell you, it's not easy and it takes ages (unless you're yodabig), but it is a lot of fun, and the NT is heaps of fun.

The best thing you can do is get involved in the forums, and try to join a good private league - the Fishbowl is Australia's best PL, with 48 Aussie teams from all Divs from ABBL to IV, so if you're interested in that let someone know. The season for that has started recently but it'll be open again by the end of this season.

Good luck!

Okay just a response to your massive reply. From top to bottom,
firstly your smartass comments do make you sound like a jerk especially when we do not know each other.
I didnt say i was perfect and new everything.
That player, anyone was going to be better than what i had but i know there were better players available but maybe i didnt want to spend an extra 5-10k. I wasnt chasing him, i placed one a starting bid on about 10 players and after someone else bidded on him i no longer paid any attention to him. Agree with me or not but my philosophy is to play and win with players that have played for me since their rookie season. So please is that player finally over with?
Also i clearly said i wasnt going for this years election. I knew i wasnt going to win. I registered myself so people like you would get to know me!
Which leads to the next point, the much criticised names. First of all i know it sounds a little arogant but remember im on Australias side. When i was signing up for the game i had no idea that the tornament was also called that so sorry for naming myself the same and i didnt want to waste time thinking of a name and i truly believe i can be very good at this game (not straight away ofcourse). Also i cant be bothered to change it later and it would cost money for stadium. But on that matter i know it doesnt sit well with everyone so fair comments.
Okay i referenced to the uk game to notify everyone that i am not just an ordinary newcomer (And btw try googling software simulations then find it). But anyway this is BuzzerBeater and i have played both so i am the only one that can tell you that they are similar and therefore i have some level of experience when it comes to bball managing.
Commitment, oh gosh this is taking a while just to explain myself. I have been playing that uk game (sorry for another reference but i feel it is relevant) since i was 7 years old and you have to pay quite a bit of money each season to play so yeah been playing that for 10 years and i love bball so this easy to commit too (sorry if that sounds arrogant or whatever) but i also love this game. I asure you i wont be leaving anytime soon, believe it if you want.
haha "walk the walk" all im asking for is to give me the chance (time) and ill show you. Just my "talking" got your attention and thats what i wanted so now, again, you know who i am for the future.
I respect your opinion and do not expect you to change it.
Thankyou for the advise, its very much appreciated and i look forward to the challenge. (i never said it was going to be easy to achieve things in this game)
I never intended on making enemies just when im getting "attacked" by managers who a lot of people obviously respect and listen too, i am going to defend myself and share my opinion.
I hope you and everyone else understands where im coming from even if you dont agree. I am like you all and want to make Australia better. Hopefully, eventually you guys will give me the chance.
thanks anyway mate, hope we are cool :)

Everyone, well everyone except mllama, Nico and Dire, starts with a crappy team in division IV. It is what you can do later that sets the men apart from the boys. If you are keen to help the U21 team then that is exactly what you should do. Iwen is bringing back the mentoring system this season, volunteer to be a mentor. That is exactly what Leeroy and Bainsy and even Whitebeard did to raise their profiles and become better known in the community.

There is a lot of work to do running an U21 team, scouting, mentoring, tactics and diplomacy. It is a two season tenure and no-one is going to vote for someone that hasn't shown some ability to excel and soe longevity. You don't need to be in the ABBL, I can think of several experienced division III teams, Bainsy, Leeroy, PossumPete, Maggots, zyler, Akuma and others that would get votes if they ran.

Good luck in your BB adventure but at the moment you should probably be getting advice not giving it. For example just a 10 second look at your team shows me that you have paid a fortune to have young, high potential players at every position from your 19 year old 6'0" PG, your 19 year old 6'1" MVP SF to your 19 year old 7'3" superstar C. Maybe there is some sense but as I said after 10 seconds I don't see it.

Whilst Niko started with a team in the ABBL, he now he has a good team (maybe? haven't seen his recent transfers) in Div III. :/

having looked at your team i have a few questions for you , just so i / we can see your level of understanding of the game.

1 , what is your current training plan for your trainees , and who are your trainees ?

2, how will you manage gameshape ?

3, can you explain how effective 2-3 defense is in this game ?

4, your thoughts on the shotblocking skill ?

5, your thoughts on cross training ? and the elastic effect ?

First of all i am not going to keep explaining myself to everyone. I HAVE SAID THAT I AM ONE FOR THE FUTURE!! i do hope people are getting the message. But seen as though you are the first one to ask me specific questions i will answer them:
1. i have said that i want players on my OWN team from their rookie season so they all might look like prospects/trainees (whatever you want to call them) but i have been advised by iwen to train my big c as i said before, iwen said he is a "great prospect" I am training him in Inside shooting, inside defence and rebounding as equally as i can. Now i am trying to find a second big man prospect to train along side my main guy. I would love to train my sg/pg but simply cant until c meets iwens requirements.
2. gameshape i would like to give my players close to 1 and a half games a week as possible so like 60mins to keep them at repectable or strong.
3. bro i play bball everyday so i know that playing a 2-3 would obviously focus more on inside d, so would be good against teams with better big guys. but it would leave perimiter guys more open than usual.
4. shotbloocking is probably not that important for me but idk what yous think. (probably get attacked again)
5. Now this topic im not so familiar with (being honest). All i know so far is that you can train for eg shooting range and it helps shooting aswell. But yeah im guessing thats not it. sorry do not know what elastic effect is.
Anyway over time and with all of your help guys, i hope to gain more knowledge and when im FINALLY READY to actually have a proper crack at coaching gig, then yous can critically analyse everything that i do

Ok I'm bored at work and will try and help you out here. I'm not trying to criticize you, rather help you out a little.

I would also recommend you join the offsite forum (if it's still working) and sign up for the mentor program. There you can get advice from a number of the top Australian coaches in your own private thread. Somebody also mentioned the Fishbowl PL, find the Australia - IV.7 forums and ask questions in there if you want as well.

1. While having players on your team since they are 18/19 might sound like a good idea, it probably isn't going to work out in the long run. The reason being (and you've already mentioned it) is you can only focus on so many players to train at one time. If you are going to train C's to begin with, that leaves your guards untrained until you finish training big men. By that time, they will probably be 21 or close to it in which the effects of training slow down significantly and it would probably be a waste to even try and train them. Finding a second C to train along side your main trainee is definitely a good idea and you should be able to pick somebody up relatively cheap. You don't need MVP+ potential and you will often find that 18yo with superstar or perennial allstar potential are significantly cheaper than those with a high potential yet same starting skill set.

2. You already have the right idea in keeping your players to roughly 60mins a week, however respectable game shape isn't actually that great. Aim to keep your players in proficient game shape.

3. There are many people who believe 2-3 is actually "broken" and don't advice people to use it at all. I'm sure you can find more info on this if you search but basically man to man is believed to be the 'best' defense against an inside focused team. Using outside based defences (ie, 3-2) can also be used which will stop any passes from being made to the

4. Agreed, shot blocking doesn't seem to be that important and just jacks up the price of big men ridiculously for minimal benefits.

5. Yes basically cross training is where you train one skill and there is a small effects on all the other skills. I'm yet to see any effect of cross training but it's only been around for a season now. The elastic effect is where you train one skill so it is much higher than the others and will then cause the other skills to train faster as they try to catch up to the other, much higher skill. I haven't really read much about this but it was my understand that as one skill went significantly higher than the others it slowed down so I'm not sure how much benefit you actually gain by doing this.
