It isn't funny not being on the Smeltztroopers side. What is funny is that they beat Slam ! by 27. Next they have WA IS A DUMP and their GS may not even crash too much even with three games a week as I suspect they were training it for the playoffs. Could grab some wins from Billy Hoyles Boys or Pancakes with Jam and Cream before GS starts to really stink and they become an easier target. I would love it if they got a top division II or ABBL cup opponent next(as long as it isn't me).

Since you asked anyway, I can do an exclusive unbiased prediction for the great 8.. yes I'm bored today.

Whitebeard and WA will battle it out for #1 and #2 again. I reckon Whitebeard has the edge now after bringing in Cranshaw, so I think WA needs to make a move in order to take top spot and have another serious crack at the title. I can't see anyone making a serious challenge to those two this season.

I'd say Koop, HA and Pancakes are the next tier of teams. Koop has ncie depth, but lacks the star power to challenge the big 2. I'd back the depth to get him 3rd over the course of the season though. If Pancakes brings in a player or two, he can get 4th or maybe 3rd, otherwise HA will probably grab 4th.

I think Billy Hoyles Boys' team looks a bit behind the others at the moment, so unless he makes a move, he'd probably slot into 6th.

Smeltz obviously is expected to go bot, but may be able to snag a couple of games early in the season. Slam looks like he is going the full blown tank, but will have to be careful that he can win enough games to go past Smeltz (if he wants to have a crack at staying up).

I'm expecting someone to take advatantage of the Smeltz bot and Slam tank to do a full tank and slot into 6th though. Who knows who

There we have it

Interesting analysis from he who just brought a 220K SG but was the only team to lose at home in the first round.

Ofcourse I hope that your wrong and that HA can compete with Whitebeard and Bryce, and whilst I reckon my top 5 are okay, truth is apart from Pedrosa I dont have a much in the way of over achievers who can perform at a high ABBL standard but are true value for money players (i.e. like a Vuk) and because of this the team does lack a bit of depth.

Therefore your reasoning in having Bryce and Whitebeard finisihing top 2, is hard to debate.

Mllama and Dire are proven performers and I reckon are likely to finish 1 and 2 in the Big 8.

Dark horses on either side might just be HA and DFBS, not because of their line ups or abilities but because we're a tad left field and have nasty competitive streaks.

Assuming Smeltz goes Bot and Slam plays safe and tanks, I have to agree that its probable that one or more if not all of Koops, Coachnoodles and CCat might Tank except for the ritual CT against HA. All 3 teams are very capable and well managed, but my gut feel tells me that if 3 other teams in the Great 8 have a dash at it, then its likely that they will keep their cards close to the chest and instead continue to slowly build.

Back on the Big 8 side,the GM and Trickster havent to my knowledge "risked it all" before and have instead given me the impression that they have been content to finish mid ladder and slowly build.

Bell Park are a bit hard to read. I was under the perception that late last season he sold players, with the hypothesis that the market would continue to drop. He has since brought 3 solid players but the team doesnt look anywhere as strong without Velasco. It also has to be assumed that he still has at least a million in the bank from those trades.

Aussie Pride is admirable because of his ability to win div 2 without an over the top HA style high priced roster, but this is not div 2, his stadium is only 75% built and he appears to have stuffed up by seriously under pricing the attendance tickets.

Glelnelg Tigers are well managed and enter the ABBL with an ABBL size stadium. They certainly waited their time before promoting, rather than pushing it. Their Roster is ok but IMO they still slightly underpriced their tickets.

DFBS on the other hand, IMO have their prices too high given that the first years boost in attendance is now gone

My predictions are;

Big 8
Mllama
BLS
GM
Trickster
DFBS
GT
Bell Park
Aussie Pride

Great 8
Bryce
Whitebeard
HA
Koops
CCat
BHB
Slam
Bot

My predictions for the silverware are that history will continue to repeat.

Cup = Dire
League = Bryce

On what date will Smeltz go bot?

Spot on mllama on the predictions, but you give me too much credit. I don't want 3rd spot. I want 5th!

The big 8 is a lot harder to predict. BLS and Wombats would be competing for the top spot again. With the recent purchase of 200k SG and with Direwolf contemplating on restructuring his team before the important games of the CUP tourney comes around, I'd go with Wombats getting the top spot.

The next tier would be Monkeybiz, Baxter Bogans and Fatboy slim. Even with a first round loss to Monkeybiz I believe Baxter will take out 3rd spot with Monkeybiz 4th and Fatboy slim 5th if he can maintain that roster.

Perk Bell supercats big loss to Direwolf in the opening round raises a few questions about his training pattern. But he did give Koops a good run for his money in the PL game. I have a gut feeling that Park Bell would be knocking on the door of the second tier teams and steal that 5th spot by the end of the season.

The last tier would be the new promotees Glenelg and aussie_dude. With Glenelg holding home court advantage against aussie_dude, the 7th and 8th spot is still up for grabs. But aussie dude has said he is planning on tanking and concentrating on the CUP tourney so I'm guessing Glenelg 7th and aussie_dude 8th.

Sorry Koops I went and edited my last post to include a review.

By my reckoning the TV money is set to jump about 21k upto around the $229,583 mark.

Ofcourse I might just be a tad optimistic.

Doesnt quite make up for the 50k increase in players salaries or the 70k drop in attendance, but I wont knock it back if ts there.

How long does it take a team to go bot from their last log on?

LOL yeah man as if ninja edit your post after you ask someone to do a write up for the big 8... hang your head in shame.

TV money would be $220 400 this season in the ABBL.

Good roster setup this week Direwolf. you've got training and easy wins. Looks like you've reserved the bigs for tonight's game...

I started both Grgur and Zarrinche against Bell Park. How is that reserving them for tonight? I do have a bot for the first cup game though so don't expect me to go easy on you ;)

lol 23 minutes for Zarrinche, 33 minutes for Fatur and 48 minutes for training a guard at C. I say that's good rostering.
Looks like I am expecting some heavy inside offence tonight
