It would of course be a huge challenge that would require some luck, but if pulled off it would give the team an advantage over literally every team in the game (assuming no other team has done it). The exact strategy of what to do would depend entirely on the cards dealt. Ideally the draftees and training would be a progression from PG to SG to SF, etc, with two position training sandwiched between one position training, so the PF gets jump shot training with the PG, and the SF gets rebound training with the PF/C, and the training regime is concluded with one position of inside shot/inside defense.

Well, I did serial demote and found out the hard way how much the game discourages the practice. I don't think I would have had any trouble staying in II if I wanted, but once I went down the path of demotion, the hits just kept coming.

Please explain further.

I understood I would lose significant income, but I don't think I was prepared for just how much. I'm not sure how big NBBA stadia ended up getting, but for several seasons mine was among the largest in the country. Actually, I just looked and I'd still be well equipped there with close to 18k seats. I sold out last week and my income was 261k altogether. At that level it is difficult to train players from scratch and still compete. Many times in the last few seasons my coach was as expensive as my entire team. Each time I demoted, I did it in part because I believed it would give me an opportunity to regroup and quickly promote. Granted, I made some terrible transfer decisions and didn't consult the offsite forum for a couple years, but it was much tougher than I anticipated. Now, I'm trying to relearn the game from scratch and not blow my modest warchest of about 5.5 mill too early.

I don't think it's the number of seats in your arena that matter at this point, it's the location and price of those seats.

I'm of the opinion that your bleachers are too cheap, and that your lower tier are too expensive and too few.

It could be that I need to add some seats. Being that right now I'm selling out, it doesn't look like any are too expensive. I really just went off the chart on the offsite forum. I will raise the prices a bit with the next update, but the fans were a little pissed about the end of last season. How many seats would you add?

I definitely was overspending. Usually I tried to keep a 6 around. Replacing them as they get more expensive is prohibitively expensive in the lower leagues. I would probably have another couple million sitting around if I had used 4s. Ultimately, my financial troubles came from a couple spending wars we had, IIRC. Was Isaksen the 7 in every category SF back in the day?

One of the hardest elements of this scenario to game is the distribution of top players. Each league seems to be independently distributed and event the top end draftees are non-potential NTers. There are 32 Div V leagues, so you would have to be extremely lucky season after season. You might be able to pull it off for two seasons and get one gold/green potential and a superstar/gold guy. If you are really lucky they are matched in size and skill profile.

From my training experience, you are far better off buying a matched set of players to train and then eventually selling one off and keeping the others. But I like the thought experiment...

Not to nitpick, but...

There are 32 Div V leagues,

I was under the impression that there were 256 V leagues. There are 64 IV leagues, aren't there?

Just for starters, I'd add 200 lower tier and 15 or 25 courtside, and not worry too much about bleachers or luxury right now. Once you adjust your prices before inter-conference play, the latter two sections should look a bit better and you might even be able to add a luxury seat or two. Feel free to BB-mail me as you go if you'd like, I have to get out of here before I bitch at shikago about his arena again. ;)
