Semifinals Awaits!

Team Pilipinas won its 5th U21 game in the 2nd round of the Season 22 Asian Championships against a very determined Indonesian squad. The game was tight in the first 3 quarters and only in the 4th did the Pilipinas squad finally break away to win the game 109 to 95. With a perfect 5-0 record, the Pilipinas squad topped Pool D to avoid a semifinals meeting with the dreaded China U21 squad who is one of the favorites to win it all this season. Team Pilipinas will instead face Taiwan in the cross pool semis pitting the 1st place teams against the 2nd place ones. China will meet Hong Kong in the other semis match up.

When asked by the press if Team Pilipinas can win it all Lolo Smithz had this to say with a smile on his face. "One game at a time... One game at a time. What Fate has in store for the Pilipinas U21 team is now up to Destiny :) Sometimes you just can't fight it just go with the flow."

To the Worlds We Go!

After a nerve racking 126 to 114 overtime win against a very spirited Taiwan U21 squad, Team Pilipinas goes to the finals against Team China in a winner takes all championship match. Team Pilipinas corner one of the two automatic slots for Asia for the U21 World Championships next season as one of the finalist in Asia.

Lolo Smithz was seen sitting down on the hardcourt after the game. When interviewed this is what he had to say. "I would be lying if I thought we would win after seeing our team down 12 points at the half. That was simply an awesome game by Taiwan. We thought they would be pushovers but they showed a lot of heart but in the end we showed even more. I'm proud of my boys."

"We got one of our goals which is to get to the World Championships next season. Winning the Asian Championships would be the icing on the cake. Hopefully Fate asks Destiny to shine on us favorably in the finals. China is one tough team. They have been the top dog in Asia most of the past seasons. Master Cezzz broke that domination once. Hopefully this padawan can duplicate the same also. God bless the Pilipinas U21 team."

I wasn't meant to be as Team Pilipinas couldn't beat top favorite China for the U21 Asian Championship Crown for Season 22. Team Pilipinas ended up with the silver trophy and an automatic ticket to the World championships in Season 23.

"Congrats to Team China. Deserving to be Champions. No excuses for losing to a superior team." said Lolo Smithz. "We will try to do better next season in the Worlds and try to get a semifinal slot."

"I would thank everyone who supported Team Pilipinas this season. Those who took time to enjoy our games win or lose. It was fun times. Hopefully more will join us in the future to make our U21 team stronger not only in team unity but also in terms of players trained."

"Thank you to all the trainers of our U21 players. I know its hard at times for you to sacrifice your players playing time for the benefit of our national team. We appreciate it much when you do so. To the Elders you know who you are thank you for putting up with me when we disagree with our tactics and ideas. In the end we also learned much about this game."

"To everyone a championship would have been the icing in the cake but it really wasn't meant to be. My sincere apologies to all."
