everyone, I have an idea. Ok let's raise the amount of players fielded to 5. If a team doesn't field 5 it's a WO

now. If it's a TV Game getting WO, then The team that forfeited get's penalized for 2 weeks. The money then goes to the Winning WO team, who can give any league day to host a TV Game. Also, the losing team has to refund the fans to so now they give back what they've earned, so now Let's use my team as an example (cause I forgot where Natellio's TV COntract thread is)

I host a TV, I lose, so I earn a 58k a week TV Contract. So 2 weeks penalized iss a 116k deduction. then you have to give back to the fans. Let's say I am at my arena, it makes 90k roughly in money, so not 90k loss is a 206k ddeduction, which derails a D5 team WO, of course the severity of a WO in D5 is like buying a 200k monster. But in higher leagues, this WO could be devastating. So I like it. It totally deletes WO.

If there is no TV game, and it's a WO, WO team gets penalized 1 week merchandise and TV. Again my team as an example that would be a 170k loss (90k arena, 14k merch, 60k contract roughly) SO still a WO would be devastating.

To me this is a great idea cause it's a very dangerous idea to Walk over now then. If you're in debt a WO can get you bankrupt in a snap of the fingers.

But what happens if I am facing a superior team, and have no chance of winning, and just want to play 3 people for training purposes, or what if I want to play 4 people and the rest of my team is near 48 minutes? What then?

what do they accomplish by that, if they don't desire to compete in a higher division, then why are they participating in BuzzerBeater, My goal in this game is to compete in the highest level and to grow to be the no.1 team, if anyone has the same goal he would not be able to that by tanking.
First, it is not a Q of what if. This is what happens, as each user has its own understanding of how to play the game, and that is their perspective.

What is surely true is that users who played longer on this game, and longer on higher division have longer time to pile high volume amount of money.
With current rules (no salary-cap), new users at those division just has no chance.

It is also not letting them develop their team as much as they want, hence it is reasonable for them to stay in a lower division where they can pile more money until ready (money-wise) to compete at the next division.
AKA - Playoff-tanking, which is much worse than current tanking (which is bad as it is...)

there is actually a salary cap here. not really that obvious but, there is a cap for arena seats, so technically, a 'soft cap' is produced due to that. i take it as a salary cap because who would want to have a higher salary than their arena income, provided that the merch an tv contract is not enough to cover the costs. it would be a loss every week.

This is as much cap as saying that all the money in the world is limited by 10....0 and more, but limited so we have a soft cap there...

This is not a cap.
In case it is, there is no reason for you not to support dropping it to a meaningfull value

Therein lies the trick of tanking, though. Save up loads and loads, then go over the "salary cap" (what you can afford temporarily), so make a weekly loss but be able to sustain it because you have money stored, and do all that to out-compete other teams.

Now they need to get rid of walkovers. I kinda like your idea of just plugging in lucky fans. There are other more complicated ideas out there, but simple is more likely to be actually DONE.

The one thing I don't like about that is that lucky fans with their hyper-aggressiveness cause all sorts of fouling issues and likely would be prone to cause injuries at a higher pace than normal. It could be a late-season strategy to go ahead and field a walkover to get the chance of lucky fans injuring a potential playoff opponent's best players. (I'm not sure that would actually be a good strategy but it's one that I can see some teams adopting).

I think if lucky fans were changed to have the midpoint of aggression, that would allow the "all lucky fan" fix to go in place.
