Everyone else in this league is really polite. I am not. Those 3 "trainees" are rubbish. You have to be tough. Sell them or when no-one else out of the 64,000 players will be willing to buy them, sack them.

Perenera 22 too old to train, can't shoot and atrocious skills everywhere. Rubbish.
Gillespie 20 also can't shoot is better but not by much.
Lia 22 too old to train and can't drive, handle and really really can't pass.

Good news is this is the best time of the season to get a new trainee. I think for less than $20,000 each you could pick up 3 guys better than them and never regret it.

I know this may seem rude me saying they are rubbish. But they are.

As for PR, mine costs me 6k a week, I wouldn't pay much more than double that at most, they are supposed to make you money not lose it.

Level 4 trainers are a dime a dozen and you should be able to get one under 20k a week. Mine is 18k and I am already looking at flipping him.

Neeber is right, build your stadium, stadium = money!

I have been playing since season 12 and had to learn all this through lots of mistakes, you are lucky with all the helpful guys in this league.

1 more tip. If you are looking for guard trainees set these parameters - but don't overbid my guy!

JS, JR, OD and PD minimum inept.
Height max 6'5"
Potential all star or more
Age 18 or 19.
Salary $3500.
Current bid $100,000.

There are currently 652 guys like this for sale. Get 3.

I'd say anything under Superstar potential is a waste of time.

Perennial Allstar is fine, but cap at around 70k.

I hear some of you say "Well Iwen, they'll get too expensive and he'll have to sell them".

Yes, maybe, one day.

But by buying higher potential players, you give yourself the ability to ride those players abilities as they get better, all the way through to the ABBL.

Look at Shaun McArthur (12525988). I bought him for $3.7m when he was 19, and a 20k salary (when he turned 20).
I bought Duong Ton (13946406) about half a season later, aged 20, who has been on the same training plan since. He's almost capped now, otherwise he'd be around 100k in salary.

My point is, if you buy Allstar potential, yes that's fine for where you are now, but what about the long run? When All-star caps out at 40-50k, is that player enough to help you win Division II?

If not, then what?

You'll need to sell and start all over again...

Allstar certainly won't help you in ABBL.

Think long term strategy.. and you'll be awesome sooner rather than never!

Well I've just bought 2 very important pieces for my teams future.
Dave Lambert MVP, you will come to know him as "The DL" He will fit in nicely with my training plan for "The Great Wall". And i desperately needed a 3rd proper trainee. Yes he's 19 but his starting stats are stupendous for what I'm looking for in the coming seasons.

also got my arena up to the perfect number of 12345, consisting of 11111 bleachers :P

I wont be spending any more cash this season. Same old consistent Rangas

I would expect that my season is going to be very hit and miss as I'm likely to be playing my 3 trainees for 48 minutes single position for most of it with some 1on1 thrown in for good measure.

Good luck to everyone for season 17, predicting the beasts to promote.

Maybe you and I should be in the USA DIII.12, my recent acquisition is also a yank, little younger and more expensive but specific to my training requirements, I think I actually bought him for a very reasonable price.

Still unsure how the Blaze will tackle this season but their will be a higher emphasis on training than last season that is certain.

Hi Hippo,

Cheers for your honesty mate, I need as much of this sort of advice as I can get!

What about this trainee - Possible Future U21 apparently:

Chau Viên

DMI: 0
Age: 18
Height: 6'3" / 190 cm
Potential: starter **** - yes I know, I know but it's all I've got lol
Game Shape: respectable

Jump Shot: respectable Jump Range: inept
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: respectable
Driving: respectable Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: atrocious
Rebounding: inept Shot Blocking: inept
Stamina: average Free Throw: atrocious

Experience: atrocious

OD and Handling are at a reasonable level, passing obviously needs work and jump range is pathetic. Let me know what you think, I'm starting to lean towards just training one position as a few on here are suggesting is the better way to go...

if his potential were higher i would be great, sign him.. but Starter potential is just plain useless. With that potential, he would not even come close to a possible U21.

http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thread=144856&m=30 <-- read that thread on training..

How does potential work?
Potential acts as a cap on training. Different potential levels cap out at different skill levels. So an MVP can be trained longer than an Allstar potential player. There is a rough salary estimate corresponding to the cap for each potential level. Once the skill set of a player reaches a particular point (The soft cap) that is equal to the potential level of the player, training really slows down and it becomes ineffective to train the player anymore.

0 Announcer: < 6k
1 Bench warmer: < 8k
2 Role player: < 13k
3 6th man: 15-18k
4 Starter: 20-30k
5 Star: 35-50k
6 AllStar: 60-80k
7 Perennial allstar: 95-140k
8 Superstar: 140-220k
9 MVP: 215-315k
10 Hall of famer: 500k+
11 All time great: 1M+

The above is a rough estimate of potentials and where they cap at. Note that centers are generally capable of attaining a higher salary than guards.

The above is taken from the BB guide.. here you can see the max salary for a starter potential player is 20-30k, so if you are to train him to maximum, he could be a decent starter in this league, but most likely a back up player.
Don't believe what people write in there transfer comments, they are trying to sell their players and maybe suck in an inexperienced player to buy a player for more than he is worth.

Thanks mate, yeah he was a fantastic buy in the end and he will def be a SF, still have my SG Moodie and my other SS Nikos to train so their will be some interesting cross training over the next couple of seasons for me, think that will take my chances of promoting this season away but I will still finish somewhere near the top for the red, don't think there is much comp there. Be high seems to train his old men still which is not helping him, predicting Sammy Dog to be the competition for the red, Z's guys have trained well too but unless he can pick up a solid 3rd starter he will still be 4th at best.

Was talking to Ranga before and was saying for early predictions I see it finishing like so -

Blue - Beasts, Hippos, Dreamers or Rangas (can't seperate), bains, spartans, leikus and bogans
Red - Blaze, Sdog, CRE, Z, Be high, Cweb, Glory and then bandits...
