#1, I'm newb, HELP!
A: A mysterious figure enters the room.
#2 please?
A: He nods.
#3 is there any sort of mentorship program going on, or do I just harass that GM I've been paired up with for all my nit-picky questions?
A:There is somewhat of a mentorship thread on the Canada General forums. Best thing to do is read the FAQ.
(http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...)#4 don't hurt me!
A: You will get injured.
#5 this the third question out of 5 that fails to be an actual question.
A:No.
#6 The following will probably be a question.
A: Are you sure this time?
#7 it seems as if there's only been 4 people to post in this thread in the first 6 weeks of this season. Is that the normal amount of forum activity in league forums?
A: Usually this amount or less, our Division tends to usually be on the more active side out of all the divisions, the Canada Forums are full of active managers and know a lot about certain strategies and finer details to the game.
#8 anybody else here play Hattrick? My team there is Muranogs, and I'm equally as sucky there.
A: Nope, but might check it out.
#9 In the vertual world I might suck, but in the real world I... suck also (life's not fair, is it?)
A: It is not. I'm hoping now for global warming so I can have palm trees here in Calgary. White people problems.
#10 looking at w/l and pd, it seems like I'll really struggle not to demote. Could you comfort my wretched soul by reassuring me I'll never drop down and be forced to play an entire boring season against bots?
A: The fact that you started in Div.III is fairly lucky, the only reason you did is one of our former Div mates dropped out after ~6-weeks inactivity. Normally you would start in Div.IV and have a good chance to win the division within your first 1-3 seasons. The starter team you get is VERY WEAK in comparison to most of the teams in this Division, but with a few good roster moves and a little luck you might be able to sneak into 6th place and play a relegation match against 6th/7th in the over conference. Where you are unlucky is that we are already half way through this season, and you have alot of catch-up to do.
#11 Could you satisfy #10 without lying?
A: I think I might have.
#12 and my final question: could you satisfy #11 without standing?
A: I do it sitting down or squatting.
Edit;
Also, a few suggestions to any noob are;
1.
Trim the Fat. Its not always the case, but most times, low salary means crappy player. You want to cut your team down to about 12-14 players, and cut the crappy players off your starter team. Just fire them, as the salary in which you are paying them this week, if lost, will be more then you would get by selling them for 1-2k each on the market.
2.
Train and Spend. To beat relegation, you need to get a competitive team, but you also want to starting training players right away. Training is determined by a player getting atleast 48 minutes during the 3 games per week at the position being trained. You need to find 18-20 yo players in which you want to train, and determine if you want to train Guards/Bigs or Small Forwards. With out a clear vision of what you want your trainees to be when they are trained, you will find yourself training players that have unobtainable skills. Once you figure that out, pick up cheap price/higher salary old guys off the Transfer list to help you win. Ones that fit positions in which you WONT be training.
3.
IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME! Build your arena, to be competitive financially in Div.III+, you need a decent sized arena and a lot of butts in the seats. The only real ways to make money in this game is selling tickets, or getting lucky by selling one of your players. And building your arena will only increase your net income in the long run.
4.
GS/ENTH. I can't stress the importance of Game Shape and Enthusiasm as tools to make even crappy teams better then they should be,
