how do you know england has a better roster than cyprus? by looking at the salaries? or do you have a way off seeing the england players skill sets?

Yes, Apples that I grow in 5 seasons... so I'm not "so bad", you run the Cyprus team all by yourself and train all the players? As far as I am aware it is a team effort and not just your doing. Knowing how to train players doesnt make you a good coach.

I am glad to have discussions with people that read other peoples post. Where did I say you cant reach 4th position? I never said that. This is what I said. Saying i did is just a blatant lie!!!

I wish you good luck too and no matter what happens, I dont think neither England nor Cyprus will end in the top 2 spots... So lets hope we meet again in the next round :)

But I already know from other forum posts that you just keep going on and on and on, about what you want to believe and you refuse to read what others say. I have even praised the Cyprus team and their progress on numerous occasions. I am not going to have that kind off discussion, it is just totally useless.

Wish you all the best with the Cyprus team.

Yes, it's useless because I wasn't speaking with you, but with Elboss.

Just two points in order to answer you:

I'm not so stupid to say "oh my God... 100k salary!!! He's a monster!!!" no... sometimes player go on the market (copy and past skills), sometimes I know users that have these players so I ask them by msn... I had 10 players of England before our match... may be not all 10 were updated, but just a help.

you run the Cyprus team all by yourself and train all the players? As far as I am aware it is a team effort and not just your doing. Knowing how to train players doesnt make you a good coach.

No, but I follow every single national player growth since he's 18, according with user, or giving them advice.

last thing I am going to add.

this is what I have said...

They CTed twice already and I cant see them end in the top 4 because off this. This doesnt say "you will certainly not end in the top 4".

Secondly I have also said "I wish you good luck too and no matter what happens, I dont think neither England nor Cyprus will end in the top 2 spots... So lets hope we meet again in the next round :) ".

It is exactly what YOU want to read in messages people write instead of reading what people really write.

And if you want to ask our NT coach something than write him a personal email and dont put the question on our england community forum when you dont want anyone from our community to answer...

I don't know if we reach 2nd place, I hope, but I don't think so...

Steve "The bad coach" Makis :-)

i said this on the belgian forums, and i'll say it here again:

Cyprus took great risks. thier were alot of if's for them to qualify. they needed Danmark, Belgium and England to lose a match and win a match in the games between these countries. if that had happened, then Cyprus would be tied with Danmark with a 5 to 2 record for the second place, and then it would have come down to difference in baskets... thier were to many conditions to pull it off, yet he tried to do it. to me, he proved that he has alot of guts, and dares doing the things that nobody else would even try, let alone think of.

i think that Steve ( aka the Bad coach ;) ) did a great job with what he had as players. and i think that everyone should give him credit for what he has done. he may have ended up as 4th in the WC qualifying round, BUT it's still before England ( no hard feelings, but i haven't always understood your decisions in alot of Games Elboss, but i'll reckon that you got a better idea of what you are doing since you can see the skills of the English NT ... i can only go forth on the stats, but even when i go forth on the stats, i still don't understand all your decisions...)

anyhow, Steve gave Cyprus a shot at qualifying itself. it was a very long shot, but he did a great job! and he ended in the top 4 something that nobody (in the other NT countries) would have even dared to think. we all though of Cyprus as the team that would be too strong for the remaining 3 in our division, but not strong enough to tackle the top 4 teams. however, in Belgium, we had seen that cyprus would probably determine who would end up second... cause the games against Cyprus wouldn't be easy, and whoever lost one, would most likely have to win of Germany to qualify... everyone talked about Belgium, but if you compare rosters (based on salary), then the TOP 4 should have been:

Germany, Danmark/England and Cyprus.

in ordre to give Cyprus that very long shot at qualifying, he did what he could do. and he took everyone by surprize. if you look at it now, he almost had pulled it off...

Joe pulled of a simular thing as Steve, and he ended up on the second place 2 seasons... unfortunately, he lost one game, and that would prove to be the game that ruined our chances... (game vs Marroko)

So right now, you got to give Steve credit for the guts that he showed. he gave everyone the impression that he was careless with his enthousiasme, but in reality, he had planned it all!

but before you can say that Steve is a good coach, let's see what he can do next season. will he still be underestimated? or will he have to face teams that are stronger than him, with a rank that is way to high for his NT ( like Belgium.... we haven't got the team to be ranked 10th of the world!) So to me, Steve proved to have got some guts, and that he is a good and capable coach. next season, he'll have an opportunity to prove that he isn't jsut a good coach, but that he is a great coach, by winning the game when you aren't underestimated (ove rmaybe even overestimated, cause you guy's overestimated Belgium...)

and i equally look forward to see what Elboss is going to do, cause your campaign was a mess. you've got one season to prevent England from having a major slide on the World rankings, and you'll need all the luck you can get to pull it off... next season, you'll have a chance to prove everyone that what happened here, was just bad luck... a great coach can pull it off and get England back up in the rankings... so you've got an unique chance to prove everyone that no matter how bad things look, you've got what it takes to lead the English NT back to where it belongs, and that is in the top 20. Elboss you got one hell of a task next season.

i'll be looking forward to see what England and Cyprus will do and how their coachs will react.

regards

Both your 18 players have potential to get to the U21, but if you have not trained them during this season, they are behinf other english players

A quick update...

As you might (or might not!) have noticed, I've been quite silent...

Initially I did not want to get into the all discussion of what we did wrong etc. The results kind of speak for themselves. It was for one reason or the other a rather disastrous appearance for England.

Then RL got in the way and I've been remarkably busy. Unfortunately this shows in my team performance as well as the silence on the forums...

England is still active. We are playing a friendly "cup of the british isles" together with Ireland, Scotland and Wales
(131241.1), so far we collected two victories, although, obviously this is more for fun and experimentation than anything!

For the rest, we just await the consolation tournament...
