I can't understand how this discussion got so heated.

As to the assertion mutual TIEs will eventually kill the userbase: A great number of us come from hattrick, and 35 seasons in, there are still mutual PICs. 900k users can't be that wrong.

What hasn't been mentioned is that if you would rather concentrate on the cup than the league, the ability to build enthusiasm in league games for use in important cup games is wonderful.

The only issue I can find that makes enthusiasm a bit out of place is the idea that you can take it easy in the playoffs/finals. If adopting more realism into the game is what users really want, then team attitude should be set on Crunch Time for the duration of the post-season. I disagree with this, as the challenge of using my enthusiasm as best I could in last season's playoffs was really quite exciting (even if it didn't work out for me).

For me, the biggest problem with TIE is the way it affects the play-offs. I guess I can see it as an extra level of strategy, but I think it is too powerful. It is almost a penalty to go in as the #1 seed because then everybody is gunning for you and you can get CT'ed out of the play-offs.

You kind of have to hope that you've put together a better team than your opponents, but not so much better that they know they can't get past you on equal footing.

I agree.... I hope to win my Great 8 but at this rate anyone that finishes 4h will probably be thinking if i want another game I will have to go CT... so I have to build a strong enough team and be on enthusiasm 10/11 then hope he hasnt stacked up similar enthusiasm then go for it playing normal. If successful I then have to repeat this in round 2....or i suppose then i can use CT to all but guarantee my passage to the best of 3 final.

Although I did it last year it seems a bit silly to send your guys out in the 2nd Playoff final game and ask them to TIE! Go on boys you are 1 victory away from the title... so ease off so we can really kick butt tomorrow at our place!

I agree a change is needed... I too like the Brian James set up.

There is no benefit from playing CT in an elimation playoff game apart from an extra weeks takings, you leave yourself little or no chance to win the following week.

I think the weaker opponent just hope to win one playoff game rather than none.

the part that it is even feasible to tell your guys to TIE at the most competitive point of the season...

why dont players just use there experience to a) appreciate the magnitude and importance of the game they are going to be playing in and b) perform accordingly...

TIE is a stupid face, not critical for game play.

As I have tried to explain multiple times, the existence of TIE/Normal/CT is first and foremost a strategic game play concern. Even this simple fact should be enough to justify it's persistence in the game.
i disagree. There may be strategy involved in TIE/Normal/CT, but it has nothing to do with basketball.

Consider the following situation. i have a cup game against a bot, so I play my B team and rest all of my A team guys. After that, I have a league game, so I play my A team. Now, if I TIE the cup game, I'll have an enthusiasm boost for the league game, whereas if I normal, I don't get a boost, and if I CT, I lose enthusiasm.

As it stands, the attitude I use for the B team in the cup game directly affects the performance level of my A team in the league game. That feels very artificial to me.
