I'm a bit confused how can a team with a top 5 offense (3rd in assist, 5th in points, 4th in rating, 5th in FG%) be on the bottom of the league? That points to the defense being horrible. Any suggestions on how to best improve that aspect of the team? I have players with above average defensive skills already, not sure how my team defense is so terrible to have that great of an effect.

You play only fast offenses which might inflate your points numbers a bit. You're defense and rebounding are pretty bad TBH, at least compared to the rest of the league. You are 2nd lowest RB/game, lowest being the bot. Someone else may have better idea as to the specifics, but i'd definitely look into getting more defense. I'm probably not very high in any offensive team stat... but i score where it counts and stop what i can. My teams pretty mediocre though. Best of luck!

Just checking out the basic stats shows your defensive skills don't appear to be above average. Look at the last games vs the top 5 in the standings for our side vs yourself. Perimeter and Inside Defense, Wasco had a 10-6, Fort Llama had a 10-7, Wolf Dogs had a 9-9, Irvine had a 9-6, and Yard Goats was a 7-7. Your defense is maxing at a low 7 with players in good game shape and these teams tend to have an offensive level of higher than 7 depending on the style of play. For this level, players of any age should look like decent U21 type builds with backups getting a little more slack.

Thanks for the responses guys. You are all right. I have this challenge of trying to improve my inside/outside defense and rebounding at the same time. My SG is decent at 13 OD, but the PG is lagging behind. I might have to readjust the roster and invest in a defensive big men that can also rebound. Right now, my big men can either rebound or defend, none can do both. I have been training the whole team in rebounding, maybe that is not as efficient. So, going forward I will try to focus specifically on training ID and hope to get pops in rebounding as well. Any other suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. I will probably have another season in DIV to try and build a stronger team to compete in DIII. This league was one of the toughest yet, you guys have built some great squads! I have gotten away with just outscoring teams in other leagues, but not this one lol.

Training is a bit more complicated than that, if you are truly training the entire team in rebounding, you would be doing it wrong unfortunately. BB is quite unintuitive. Frankly at the age of your bigs, getting the ID you need might be more trouble than its worth, as ID usually something trained very early in a bigs life. Im generalizing here, but more often than not people train 3-5 people, where really you can only "fully" train 3, because of all the single position trainings (trainings that are most efficiently done for one position a week (IS/ID/OD/PA etc) versus two position trainings like (RB/JS/1v1/etc)

Example RB training C/PF at age 18 gets about 0.61 skill points per week (assuming a 7'0" trainee, and ignoring various trainer speeds).

Team training rebounding gets 0.30 skill points per week

at age 24 (seems like several of your maybe trainees are around there) its about 0.145 for team training and 0.29 for C/PF.

ID right now for your 6'10" 24 year old will train around 0.27 if you train single position (center) when he was 18 it would have trained at 0.57 roughly. Theres more to the calculations than that, but its close and an idea.

the USA discord has lots of helpful people as well, if you need help building/designing your team.

Most skills get trained adjust by player height and elastic values but have additional skill trainings. The USA collected data a long time ago and make some charts. Generally, team training is half or even less than individual and two person training is a bit less than individual.

For example, JS Guards and Wingmen train JS more than JS Forwards and at least double JS Team but JS Forwards trains IS while the other 2 don't.
