It should be great that you have Quint because with two potential U-21 PG you can do a good training plan for the 3 next seasons :)

Et une deuxième victoire !!!

A voir les notes de matchs on pourrait se dire que la victoire aurait dû être beaucoup plus significative et je trouve ce raisonnement correct. Rien que notre tactique « Motion » contre leur zone 2-3 aurait du nous donner 20 points d’avances a la mi-temps. Après quand on regarde les notes de confrontation c’est encore plus flagrant mais voila, le moteur de jeu avait choisi de nous faire vivre un match a suspens.

Nous avons perdu les 3 premiers quart-temps de quelques points, c’était désespérant. Avec mes deux adjoints présents au match : Sonics et JoeMaverick, nous nous demandions bien quelle mouche avait piqué nos amis écossais et surtout les « Ailier Fort » J. MacShannachan qui n’en finissait plus de marquer. De notre coté, à la fin du 3ième quart-temps, 47% des shoots étaient pris à 3 points avec une % de réussite désastreux. Heureusement, un dernier quart-temps de folie de la part de nos chers Belges (15-29) nous a permis de passer au dessus juste à la fin du match et notamment le tir à trois points de Josué Nossent qui nous a fait nous lever comme un seul homme en poussant des cris de joie :).

C’est donc une victoire stressante et étriquée, qui aux vues des chiffres aurait dû être bien plus importante mais le principal est là : la victoire.

Je suis également ravi de la non-blessure de Matt Limbourg qui nous a fait peur en devant sortir du terrain début du 3ième quart.

Maintenant une promenade de santé contre nos amis de l’Azerbaïdjan avant de terminer en roue libre face aux Grecs.

En een tweede overwinning !!!

Wanneer ik zie de wedstrijd ratings, ik zeg me dat de overwinning meer gemakkelijk zou zijn. Onze tactiek (Motion) tegen hun verdediging (2-3) is al een reden om met 20 punten na het 2de periode te winnen. Maar met de “punten per 100 schoten” waar we hebben altijd meer dan 100 punten tegen enkel een keer voor onze tegenstanders… Ik zeg me dat de website niet met ons was en heeft ons een spannende match voorgesteld.

We hebben de drie eerste periodes verloren, dat was dramatisch. Met Sonics en JoeMaverick wie warren met mij om de match te zien, wij begrepen niet hoe kunnen ze zo goed spelen en zeker hun PF (J. MacShannachan ) wie heeft veel veel punten gescoorde. Op onze kant, 47% van de shoot waren 3 punten shoots en dat was niet normaal. Hopelijk een verwonderlijk 4de periode (15-29)heeft alles veranderen en zeker de 3 punten van Nossent 16 seconden voor het einde… Ik heb zelf mijn stem forceren ^^.

Ik ben ook blij waarom Matt Limburg niet gekwetst is, we hebben van hem nodig tegen de Greeks.

One more but without surprise.

I won’t speak a lot about this match because I don’t think that there is a lot of think to say.

Our adversary was the worst of the season but I’ve played to win with a lot of points because our “basket average” was not good in opposite to our enthusiasm which is on the top for our last two games.

I’ve played in “Motion” with a second SG as SF to maximize our outside shooting skills. That was efficient because we scored 111 points against a 3-2. Our defense was also wonderfull with only 55 points for the adversary. I’m just disappointed because Limbourg doesn’t score and he’s the only one in this case ^^.

Now the Greeks for the final match and the 4th place.

Très belle victoire des jeunes pousses Belges qui face à un adversaire prenable mais sur le papier un rien plus fort que nous ont réussis à s'imposer 124 - 116.

Ma 1ère réaction est que le moteur de jeu ne nous aime pas ... dommage car avec un petit écart ici et surtout contre l'Ecosse, il nous prive d'une 3ième place au goal-average. J'estime que nous devrions être 40 points plus fort et donc 3ieme ce qui aurait été absolument magnifique.

Pour revenir au match, après un 1/4 temps de feu (42-35), les deux équipes n'ont cessés de jouer a saute-mouton jusqu'à 3 minutes du terme. Cet à ce moment que nous avons pris notre envol pour compter 8 points d'écart au coup de sifflet final (124 - 116).
Lors de ce match, remarquons les 35 points (avec 60% aux tirs) et 20 rebonds (5 offensifs) de Thijs van Gent, un futur très grand joueur pour notre équipe A.
Merci aussi à Dhanté Lecomte pour ses 15 assists et son superbe 11/12 aux Lancers-Francs.

Si je dois daire un point sur ce championnat, je dois dire que la place visée au début de la compétition est atteinte. Avec plus d'expérience au niveau international nous aurions pu battre la Hongrie mais bon voila il faut bien apprendre :).

Maintenant nous allons jouer quelques amicaux et terminer tranquillement la saison.

Heel mooie overwinning van de Belgische jongeren, die tegen een haalbare, maar op papier toch ietsje sterker dan wij, tegenstrever een 124-116 overwinning konden neerzetten.

Mijn eerste reactie is dat de game-engine niet echt aan onze kant staat… en dat is jammer want met dat kleine verschil hier en vooral tegen Schotland, houdt hij ons weg van die derde plaats. Ik verwacht dat we 40 punten sterker moesten zijn en dus derde, wat uiteraard prachtig zou geweest zijn.

Om terug te keren op de match; na een kwart vol vuurwerk (42-35) bleven beide ploegen haasje over spelen tot op zo’n 3 minuten van het einde. Op dat moment namen we afstand om bij het eindsignaal met 8 punten verschil te winnen (124-116).
Eventjes toch aandacht voor de 35 punten (aan 60%) en de 20 rebounds (5 offensieve), tijdens deze match, van Thijs van Gent, een toekomstige grote belofte voor onze A-ploeg.
Ook een dankwoordje aan Dhanté Lecomte voor zijn 15 assists en een schitterende 11/12 bij de vrijworpen.

Als ik iets kan stellen na dit kampioenschap, dan is het wel dat de doelstellingen en de plaats die we voorop stelden bij het begin van de competitie, bereikt werden. Met wat meer ervaring op internationaal vlak, zat misschien ook wel een overwinning tegen Hongarije binnen bereik; we betalen daar echter leergeld!

Nu zullen we nog enkele vriendschappelijke matchen spelen en het seizoen rustig beeindigen

I'm happy of this victory because they were normaly stronger than us and I was very attentive that after this match every players in U-21 have played at least one time.

Now I'll do some changes in he team to prepare the next season.

After this second victory, we'll play the championship (of the loosers ^^) which can be an good objective for us team this season.

I'm glad to see that our OTYBP begin to bring some good players in U-21 even if the potential is not always there ... (sorry Joe ^^)

I hope that we'll have an easy group and when we'll know our adversary we'll begin to make the objectives of the season.

Tonight it’s our third match in the competitions that we can call the UEFA Cup of Buzzerbeater ; It’s not the big championship, not the big one, not the one that everybody look for and where the winner is the star BUT this championship is important because the best team of each continent will bring the next world championship in his country.

Tonight we know our adversary for the next 6 weeks, and our goal is to finish this championship in the top 32 to reach the next round.
This objective is possible because when we look at our agenda we can see that we’ll fight agaisnt a lot of team which have our level : Russia, Serbia, Venezuela, Japan. Those countries can be defeat and I wait a victory of my team against them.
After we have the Latvia… more difficult but we have the advantage to play against them during the last week of this first round and so we’ll know if we have to win or if we can lose to prepare the next round.
We have also a 6th adversary, the Vietnam… we’ll win 25-0 so I don’t speack of him but the fact that we play against him immediatly is a good thing.

The goal is so to go in the TOP 32 and why not in the TOP 16, we’ll see but this year I can see some progress in our players, the OTYBP begin to have an impact and a good one !!! But I must say that this year the Sraft was horrible in our country … what a lot of player who don’t have the potential to become a great player …. We’ll have to work 2 times more to bring something good in 3 seasons and I can already say that normally in 2 seasons our U-21 team will be efficient ;)

NT managers can be replaced for a few reasons, so it is best to check right before the game to see if theis was not the case to avoid possible surprises...
