Had to drink it chilled in a brown paper bag, cos the pretty picture on the bottle looked so gay.

Never tried it warm, but will have to try that one day to see what its like. I'm sure big bad Direwolf has some experience in this. He loves his cider.

Hahahahahahahaha yeah it does look pretty gay. Strawberry and lime is where it's at though.

Or Monteiths yuuuum!

Stephano Arcuato was not value for money. I would gladly trade him in for Gary Lawrance in a heartbeat.

Fighting for 5th spot next season is going to be extra hard now in the great 8.

nooo... my offer is better - if you buy me a drink, I will tank 2 games next season if we are in the same division.

Music to my ears! I am looking at my record here and wondering if I never make it back to the ABBL how will it look to have one of the worst ABBL records ever? Looking around the division IIs they all have a lot of really strong teams and there are some sleeping giants like Chumunga that are apparently about to awaken. It is a good thing that right now I am mostly full of cost effective players who should punch well above their weight.

1/26/2012 - Bell Park SuperCats has just acquired Gian Piero Della Corte for $ 1 585 100.

Ah wouldn't that have been useful BEFORE the Wombats game? I guess I am just not used to this ABBL way of doing things where really it is just two or three teams actually trying to win the championship each season. Now that Sid Vicious has survived you guys have another Bryce Gibbs in your house, someone who will go all out to win and not give a hoot about the cost.

With Datzilla looking great right now it looks like there will be six rock solid teams in both the Big 8 and the Great 8 next season, a bad one for whoever is promoting. Where is the weakness? Who looks vulnerable? It is going to be a very tough battle for whoever comes up to get 6th or higher next season.

Most likely candidates right now are Smeltztroopers, Glenelg Tigers, Aussie Pride and Western Titans. All strong and well managed teams with stars and depth but can they beat Koopasaurus, Pancakes, Bogans or Supercats out of a place?

Always be aware of things that later turn out to be "non-core promises".

Sure it could have been useful but I wasn't in a position to win that game or any others even with him. Everyone plays the game differently. I play because it is fun. For me, buying a team of rentals before playoffs is not that much fun. It just ruins the skill of the game. At the moment the game is not all that balanced on the TL and with player skill vs salary so it is easy to exploit the game.

I don't feel like exploiting it this way because as I said, I don't find that fun or rewarding. Others might and that is ok I guess.

I want to win the title with a sustainable team that I could play with for many seasons without going bankrupt. I don't want to win using a team that I can only have together for 5 weeks before I run out of money.

At the moment I am trying to restructure my team through the TL and training to develop a team that I can sustain and I will have fun playing with each week.

Hope that helps you understand my reasoning. ;)

Makes perfcet sense and is the same way Wombats, Black Label Society, BHB, Baxter Bogans and lots of others are playing it that way so no doubt you are in very good company.

I wish the rules were different. I think the game would be better if your rosters were fixed the week after the all star game so there were no rentals. I think there should be a higher salary floor and a salary cap. I think you should get a merchandising bonus for long term players as you do for draft picks. Vallo Tammella has been on my team since the month I started in season 10 but to my fans he is just another blow in.

As you can see with my team most of my core has been together for several seasons.

Season Player
10 Oliver Ðuričko Vallo Tammela
14 Mu Hongyun
15 Jared Sherwin
16 Diptavrna Kumar Barton Melmeth Garth Larbi

That was three of my five starters last season, add to that Rober Forbes who was bought in season 15 my team was basically created in season 15, with trainees and a backup added in season 16 and one rental big man at the end of season 17 to get me over the top.

This season obviously I have had the big budget to make a lot of changes. So I have added Rene Garrett (18 trainee),
Marko Sperbert (26 awesome SF scored 51 vs Black Label Society and 38 vs WA although since I got him his foul average has jumped from 2.5 to 5.9) Antoni Hołówka (25 SG or SF) and big bad Gary Lawrance (25 stud PF).

So next season my starting lineup should be:
Barton 23
Antoni 26 * may be sold uncertain
Sperbert 27
Lawrence 26
Sherwin 31 ** will be upgraded at some time

Bench
Vallo 28
Oliver 27
Kumar 21
Mu 23
Garth 29

So as you can see I have also tried to make my team one that can last as well. I still need to upgrade the C position later but for now I hope I can enjoy a little more income.

So I totally agree with your long term strategy but having only been around since season 10 not season three I need to take lots of shortcuts to try and compete with all of you well established, experienced and wise managers. My journey back to the ABBL may be a long one but some day I hope to be back and then to be as good a manager as all of you guys.

I think your strategy is a good one and will be sustainable (if you can promote back up quickly). Buying in new players is fine and part of the game. My problem is with the 250k plus monsters that are so cheap to rent for a few games. What you have done is look for long term players which I think you will have more fun with rather than the rentals.

You will have a very good team in the seasons ahead.

Good luck

I've tied to look to those 250k plus rentals this season but they didn't go cheaply.. the bad ones went for around 800k and the better ones went for 1.1+ mil... add in 2 -3 weeks of salary and they are not so cheap.

Minimum cost of a rental is around 1.3mil (800k cost + 500k for 2 weeks of salary).

Then after the playoffs you can sell him and maybe recoup half of what you paid for cos no one wants to keep a high salaried player on their team. 300k-400k back after tax.

So you have lost 1mil and your not even certain to win the ABBL title. I'd stick to 5th place and continue to train my 20 year olds thank you very much.

Sure a few seasons ago rentals came cheaply, but now everyone is doing the rental thing.. and thus the prices have gone up... it is not such a viable strategy anymore.

I quite like this idea

Now that Sid Vicious has survived you guys have another Bryce Gibbs in your house, someone who will go all out to win and not give a hoot about the cost.

Everyone is continaully comparing myself to Bryce, Why do you all think so badly of Bryce?

My problem is with the 250k plus monsters that are so cheap to rent for a few games.

Drink up and enjoy Australia day, log in tonight when your part sloshed and you can buy mine.

I wished I hadnt of sold my injured SG, I might of held onto my own "value for money" 250k beast and tried to win the cup with a strong starting five.

Dont think HA is as yet all that established in the ABBL, by my reckoning if I sell my 250K a week centre, I only have
3 starters and 3 back ups left on the roster

? for you all.

Have a look at
Àngel Pruna (13285204
who is for sale. He's a 24 year old superstar who has popped in both outside defence and free throws in the one week.

How does this happen?
