boo sorry man I only know you cause of canals.............but go to another team..........Rockets were good and I like MWP......not cause of his game, but cause of his name anyways don't hate on Rockets...............

I just hope we'll get the 1st round draft pick this season and get another center to fill the void ever since we stopped having good big men........Yao, Olajuwon...........

Sorry I offended you, but im a lifelong laker fan and I remember when MWP was on the rockets and I hated him because of his personality. When he joined the lakers i was forced into tolerating him. When he changed his name I thought it was the most hilarious thing ever, since he had that fight with the pistons and the fans, and then after he changed it he elbowed harden in the face & got suspended. Im just saying I would rather have a Rashard Lewis or Caron Butler at the 3 this year.

Same thing with Rodman.... personality wise...nyeh
But.... on the court, very few people at thier position I'd take over him.

I'm not saying he'd be my first choice player if I was starting a team.... but If I was startingt a team, rather than take James, I would take someone like Love, Howard, and then at later point fill in MWP while people were taking KD, Carmello, LeBron, Pierce etc. ahead of him.

When he's focused on the game... (EXTREMELY not often)... there may not be a better defensive/gritty player, all-time.
Offensively, I think he could improve on a lot if he practiced more.

Alright I am going to throw a different perspective at it. I want a team that will run and play up and down basketball. starter listed first and back ups follow.

PG - Magic, Nash, Dumars
SG - Jordan, Kobe
SF - Lebron, Pippen, Worthy
PF - Barkley, Garnett
C - Olajuwon, Shaq

A couple clarifications. I am taking Dumars because of his ability to play both point and shooting guard. Brings a three point threat and defender off the bench to compliment Magic and Nash. Not because I think he is the 5th best guard of all time. But he may be the greatest complimentary player of all time. He could do it all.

Shaq would have to be circa 2000 when he was in shape and active and quick. Olajuwon from 1994 - 1996 was the greatest center ever.

Barkley and Garnett - maybe the two most athletic PF to play the game. Barkley is the most powerful dunker to play the game and the original quick-strong athlete. Perfect for my up tempo game.

Worthy maybe the filled the lanes on the break better than any other player ever. Another explosive athlete that knew how to put the ball in the hole. Barely beats out Nique for this spot because he was a better all around player and didn't need the ball in his hands all the time.

I think everyone else goes without saying why the made the list. I have lock down defenders, the best passing guards in the history of the game, athletes galore, rebounding and shot blocking, enough shooting to keep any team honest, and post players that can dominate inside AND get out and keep up with the guards on the break. And most importantly, players that compliment each other.

PG - Oscar Robertson
SG - Michael Jordan
SF - Scottie Pippen
PF - Hakeem Olajuwon
C - Kareem Abul-Jabbar

Feel like my starting 5 compliment each other pretty well, spacing and outside shooting may be an issue, but I like the versatility on both ends of the court. Always thought of Pippen as the ultimate glue guy.

B/PG - John Stockton
B/SG - Kobe Bryant
B/SF - Larry Bird
B/PF - Tim Duncan
B/C - Bill Russell

Like the scorers coming off my bench, and change-up that Duncan and Russell bring.

R/PG/SG/SF - Penny Hardaway
R/SF/PF - LeBron James

Magic Johnson would have been the better choice, but wanted to give some love to Penny. Opted for versatility and players who could play multiple positions. Kevin Garnett was considered. Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Dwyane Wade, Kevin McHale, and Wilt Chamberlain all ran across my mind at other positions.

Most likely not the perfect or all-inclusive list, and forgot about some players. Although, I still feel pretty good about my list/team.
