First off, congratulations to team love for a wonderful performance at their arena. It was certainly an eye opening match for me and my players.
In the locker room after the loss, I hammered the entire team. A stern reminder were given to those who did not improve throughout season 9 that they better buck up or a replacement will do the job for them. While for those star players, they were reminded that though they were with the team since beginning of season 8 they are far from being irreplaceable. I went on to cite team PJ Reds who just a few weeks ago axed their Star, Rashid bin Salleh who was born and bred within the team for 6 continuous seasons. I reminded them that I will not hesistate to follow PJ Reds example if they do not buck up for the remaining of the new season 10.
It sure was a very surprising night for me. And I was wreaking my head on how to explain myself to the fan club and committee members of Team KwaiWah.
Earlier this morning at the fan club hall, I explained to the fans and committee that the team was trying out a new tactic for the new season (which did not turn out as expected). I cited that the team had always struggled on the first week of the season (eg. For season 9 against Scwarze Armee where the team lost a thumping 59-107 and in season 8 where the team lost to KL Lakers 104-110). I went on to cite external team Damientor which in first week of season 8 after being relegated to Div II lost to an unknown team Junior Crew 116-120. In all 3 examples, though the loss was never anticipated the team still managed to pull through and went on to provide end results. Though fans were uneasy when I cited team Damientor as the team was relegated to Div II in season 8, I assured them that though both our teams have similarities in that we are an inside based team, the similarities ends there and our strategy does not involve being relegated back to Div II.
But to the other MBBA managers. Last night's loss was clearly my fault (Though I can't be telling my fans and my team that).
Season 10 has sure started off with a bang. And though the loss is painful it certainly helps to break the monotonous comfort zone that all the teams in MBBA has been experiencing. It certainly is a great start to a new season.
Welcome to MBBA for all 4 teams who just got promoted:
New Lakers from Div II.1
Ministry of Basketball from Div II.2
Sab Stompers from Div II.3
Team Love from Div II.4
Look forward to more similar upsets from your team ;)
