I would hope inside shooting had more to do with post moves and such...but I don't really know...

No, I'm 99 and 44/100ths percent certain INSIDE SHOT and OUTSIDE SHOT are the unadjusted shooting percentages. I base this on a player I have who is ATROCIOUS on outside shot and AVERAGE on inside shot. Like many ATROCIOUS shooters, he never makes an outside shot. When he makes shots, I look at the game and see his made shots came from in the paint.

For me, that's definitive.

What about the opposite, where a guy has atrocious inside shot and average jumper?

I don't have a player like that, but based on another thread where an owner complained about a costly player with ATROCIOUS inside shot and STRONG outside shot whose overall shooting percentage was around 30% I think that applies.

Also, note how many ATROCIOUS FT shooters on the transfer list are 0 for their career at the line.

Also, most computer basketball sims work like I described. I'm certain the BB designers are familiar with other games, and did not create the BB game engine by ignoring everything designed before this that works well.

Ok, but I'm a little confused about your previous explanation. Can you take another crack at explaning the relationship between inside shot/jumper for guards/big men?

I got what you were saying before that big men with bad jumper will take less jump shots, but that doesn't really prove a relationship to me.

It seems to me that inside shot affects layups for guards, because my guard with average driving and pitiful IS misses layups all the time. Really frustrating when I'm watching the game. I'm not saying I know this or not, but this how it appears to me. And if this is the case, that is bad news since you cant even train IS for guards.

No, they won't take less shots they will MAKE less.

Where people take shots from depends on game flow and your offense choice.

My explanation solely concerns their chances of making the shot.

For example, once I played run-and-gun in a scrimmage with the player I described. He took lots of outside shots, even 3's and missed ALL of them. That's because the offense told him to shoot outside, a horrible idea for him. If I play in inside offense, he takes his shots from the paint and can go 6-9, as he did once.

Play him at PF or C in a scrimmage and he will get that training.

Think outside the 'box'.

Or think inside the 'paint'.
