Haha, I have been away from BB for a while. I think I will promote next season, I know it is very easy. And the pay raise will help, I'm trying to get lots of money right now. I want to sell my players and start from the ground up. If I can sell my two main players. I should have about 3 - 3.5 mil which should buy me two, three good players. Add that to my soon to be beast center and I think I have a Div. 3 material team.

Getting both is going to be a pretty tough task but either one of them would be a great player to build around but I have some suggestions:

1) Gutting your team for a level 7 trainer is probably a bad plan. In addition, I think you're being very optimistic about how much those two players are going to fetch you. If you're training a big man you are going to want to get into division three (and then 2) as fast as possible so that he doesn't bankrupt you. In addition, any level 7 trainer you can afford is going to cost you and absolute fortune each week. If you're going to train these players if you draft them then I would make sure you surround them with players who a) compliment them and let you promote and b) can be trained and sold for profit sooner rather than later. I would also think about investing some cash in your arena now in order to set yourself up down the road.

2) If you get either of them I would suggest spending some time early in their careers pumping up their guard skills. What Canada needs in the long run is not just mono-skill monsters but players who aren't liabilities in secondary skills. In no small part this is because the super high salary big men just jump around the TL now and go from team to team with no training and getting terrible game shape as division 4 managers in big countries trade in all their chips to try to buy guys they can't afford and then try to ring every ounce of playing time out of them.

3) if you snag either or both then please stay in contact with the U21 and NT coaches and try to build these guys up smart.

4) Also please remember that Canada now has a division five so you're dropping way, way down the latter if you tank for last place. This means you've even further away from the sort of financial viability you need to pay for a world class centre. I would suggest game planning for this well in advance.

Also: one thing I really like about this new draft system is the fact that this sort of excitement is now much more possible than in the old one.

Wait, if I finish last it doesn't mean I demote, right? There will be a relegation series first eh? And if so I believe I can stay in the league. Perhaps I should invest alot of money in my arena so I can keep this guy? I still think I am going to bomb the season, I don't want to miss out on this guy. And one more question, who do you think is the better draftee?

If you're in last place you automatically demote. There is no series. It just happens. 6th and 7th in each division get a playoff series for relegation.

Personally I think #7 is better. He has higher potential (and could potentially be an all-time great) and slightly better skills based on the scouting. I don't think the shorter height is a big issue since it will make training secondaries easier and if you're in it for the long haul with him then you're going to want high secondaries.

Keep in mind that we don't have a lot of "real" information about either player so one of them could have inept ID but respectable SB which could mess up the way their skills appear on the draft list.

Yeah, I totally agree. Definitely go with #7. 6'9" is great for a PF type and that is what Canada needs right now anyways. You could spend 1 or 2 seasons on guard skills and then start training his inside skills to really high levels. Plus, the 7'0" guy could end up being only superstar potential or something (I think) which wouldn't even be very useful for a big time NT center

There is no danger of any Canadian team dropping down to division V any time soon. Division IV is only about 25% full right now and until it reaches it's max capacity (1024 teams) we won't be seeing any division V Canadian teams.

Are you 100% sure of this?
My understanding is that the bot cleanup does not prevent teams from dropping, it just promotes teams already in a lower division. I swear I remember a BB saying that two teams per league always drop no matter what. Of course, I could be imagining that.

Deadlynoob, I would win a game, just to make sure you don't drop (you're tied for 7th/8th at 1-13). 85% sure still means 15% unsure. The season I spent in Div III I was intentionally tanking to get a good draft pick and thought there would be a playoff to stay up (in which I could just play my best line up and win etc etc etc.). Obviously, since I'm in your league, good old IV.9, that didn't work out. There are a couple managers in our league who are looking to promote next season - I would not think your promotion is guaranteed if they all stay active. The ease with which people promote out of a IVth Division is typically due to it being all bots.

Oh, and I doubt you'll get BOTH of those guys. I'd be thrilled if whoever you don't pick drops down to me!

As an aside, I quite like this new draft system, although I would encourage people not to post ages and heights of the players they have scouted - it kind of gives things away...
