I agree with Telcontar, +1 ball for Telcontar :) Lol hes actually right though, thats what motion actually is, Run and Gun pretty much they just want to shoot.

I would probably say somewhere from 7-10 will make it better

If you have good passing, is there any situation where Run and Gun is better than Motion?

Ive forgot for how many seasons i am running outside tactics, and especially R&G/Motion.

My observations: As several other managers said, R&G shoots the 1st available shot, and lots of the times thats not the best option, thats why you need more JR, since they can take some wild 3pt shots as well. Also looks like it favors strongly the 2 guards, and much lesser extent the other 3 players. Of course you need HA/DR more here since the players will try to create there own shots, therefore the ball are on there hands for more time.

Motion:As several other managers said it use the passes to find the open man, therefore offensive flow is much more important on this tactic and in general on the slower tactics than the faster paced. If you have poor passing team then it will leads you to a lot of TO/wild shots, and will look very similar to R&G. An other factor here is that looks like that shares the ball to the forwards too, and some times to a C, so having a good jump shooting big men it benefits you greatly here. Its easier to exploit the bad OD that usually the big men have. JR is a factor here too. Since your players will not take the 10 meter 3pt, the need of JR is smaller, the JS as well.

I have very good reasons to believe that the deference of the skills lets say from 11-12 is much bigger than 16-17, so the value that you get for the salary that you pay is minimal, so boosting a lot those primary skills is not the smart way to go. From the other side passing is coming for free on 4 positions, but it benefits you greatly.

In sum up: What i prefer? for all the above reasons, the slower paced tactics as soon as you build them properly

Just my 2 cents.

P.S. Is not a coincidence that the trend on the B3 teams is the slow paced tactics.

Thanks guys very helpful.

Out of curiosity though, what level of js/jr/passing do you think is required for motion?
Specific values obviously depend on the country and division, but is there a ratio that you suggest?

I really cant suggest something in numbers, but never buy a player for the back court with less than 7-8 PA even if he will play as a SG/SF and a big man with very less than 4.

If i talk for a 1st div, you dont need 3 players for example with 20 JS, 17 is enough. JR more than 13 for me is a luxury that personally i cant afford. For PA 15+ for PG 11-12+ for SG 8-9+ for SF. I hope that it helps. Sorry that i cant be more specific.

I will choose to play Run N Gun when I'm more confident in my rebounding advantage with my big guys over their big guys because of the pace of RNG vs Motion. I want to give myself more chances to get offensive rebounds and gain a big edge in shots attempted.
