offensive flow can help. if you have a player with great passing then it will be easy for the low post players to have a position in the paint. and also the experience. the low post player will not just jack up three's if he had a better experience in the game.

personally my player could all hit the three, but before it was like that it was pretty rare. But you sometimes do it, when you are under high pressure, the clock is running down or when the opposing player sinks down really really deep.

My belief is that its dependent on how much of an advantage he has over the defense, in reading the game manuals it makes sense. for example....

Your guards have say 13 and 13 (js jr) they're better shooters than a big guy that has even say 3 and 3 (JS JR), but the guy guarding your guards has 13 OD whereas the big guy guarding your big guy has atrocious OD... the matchup says the big guy should take the shot due to him having the bigger advantage although his percentage of making the shot is less than the guards even with the defense in their grill. To take it a step farther if it gets to that big guy and he has poor passing and he has that advantage however small it is, perhaps the game engine calculates its a better play for him to shoot the 3 than pass and risk a turnover.

In playing this game for the time i have i've noticed big guys that had atrocious outside d that were put on the TL with teams in my league then werent sold and it was those matchups that my big guys seemed to hoist the one "stupid" shot, my thinking has always been the game engine is going to see the math equation not the logic.

Still, I think, it's unrealistic, that a PF with awful JS is almost guaranteed a make vs your atrocious OD PF.

This is a pointless argument. I have been trying to get it changed for a while that people who cant shoot dont shoot. But the higher ups like how unrealistic it is. Your are better off sacrificing rebounds and playing an outiside shooter at the 4 & 5 unless you are running an inside offense, because he is gonna shoot. I have a guy on my team that is shooting like .02% outside the paint but he keeps firing them up.

Experience plays a part in a player's shot selection. From the Game Manual-

A player must decide whether the opportunity presented is good enough to take a shot… this of course changes as a function of amongst other things… the shot clock, the players experience, the score of the game, the history of the quality of shots the team has seen recently, the offense the team is running, and whether that rookie shooting guard of yours thinks he knows better than the coach does how good he is at making jump shots.

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

It isn't unrealistic. You campare players to Dwight Howard. But 99% of players in BB aren't like DH ;-) They are very weak and without experience.
When I was in primary school I had in my class mate, who was one head taller than all other children in school. When we played basketball he won 80% of rebounds, but he had very weak technic. And when he run to counterattack, he scared to drive into basket and always tried 3 points throw ;-) Always, even if nearest guard was 5 meters behind him ;-) It was comic, but nobody could convince him that sure 2 points after clear position are better than 3 points attempt ;-)
And over than 90% of players in BB are similar ;-) They have hot blood instead of cold head ;-)
