I agree with the above post. If you are going to train guards, player A would be fantastic for you. You could train him at a rate that he could grow with your team all the way to division III. Player B is nice, but if he has star potential he won't be able to climb high enough to be a major force for seasons to come. If he had allstar potential he might be ok. Basically, at division V you want to be grooming your studs for DIII. If you take them slow and steady in the early leagues, develop some secondaries and plan on training them until they are 25 or 26, by the time you get to DIII, you will have bonafide studs that will keep you in III.

A few seasons ago I drafted a superstar potential 19 yo with decent skills. Waldrop on my roster. This pick was totally by accident, i didn't invest in the draft. Anyway, being new to the game, I didn't put a lot of thought into him and he got casual training. If one of my trainees were to get shorted, it was him. Now all of a sudden, he is starting to look like a pretty decent future SF. I will have to train him until he is 25 or 26, but I wish I hadn't neglected him as a 19yo. The moral is, at division V, 19 yo draftees with 5star 4 potential or better with appropriate height can be big time players in your program down the road. Especially if you can steal a stud in the second round of your draft knowing teams may pass on 19 yo draftees.
