Agree, with a bit of tactics and enthusiasm, you could easily survive in a division with your salaries close to the salary floor. So why would you tank? You'll receive the same amount of money, if you don't tank even more, because more people will come to the arena. Plus, you will not lose a whole year or more in lower divisions, where income is also less.
The only plus of tanking is that you will get a better draft pick.. and believe, you'll find out it's not worth it.
I'll give you an example, last year I had the lowest salary amount in the whole division. My salaries were just 30k above the salary floor, yet I reached the playoff semifinals and lost to the team that promoted eventually. So in a way, it's as if I tanked, but got results at the same time...

I've been seeing this a lot in the Forums. TANKING. While I'm new only my 2nd season and I blew my shot to promote early in my first season by firing everyone on my team except 12 or 13. I did this before reading the manual. The reason way I said that is because I still finished as runner up in my league. This was before I knew about GS. This yr I won a PL which I was clearly the weakest team. Read up on the Forums and listen to what GM's have to say. Then do the research yourself B4 you make a move. It's a learning process. In which some take to serious. I'm going to run my team the way I want to run my team after hearing what others have to say. With that said I would not even dream about TANKING. To risky. I don't know but if you tank your season, wouldn't that lower you attendance? Just asking.

Well when people talk about tanking it is usually when they wouldn't win many games even when they try to win so it would be hard to attract a crowd anyway. I'm not sure if the actual margin of loss affects attendance or whether a loss is just a loss.

From what I've seen & understand Tanking is a great idea, it's just not in the spirt of the game. The only catch is once you've tanked & your ready to come back, you still have to sign right & build a team with "X-Factors" in key positions that are hard for most other teams to deal with & as your in the Canadian league, you have good managers in your top division, so I'm sure they are ready for that.
Hope this helps.

There are little to no consequences for you to tank, you can easily bounce back up. What you said here:

is a good reason for him not to tank. As was already said, it's a waste of time, and i hear it's quite boring to play through.

I'm sure it is as boring as heck to do, but I don't think you can argue with the results. If done right he will pass a load of teams he would otherwise be behind.

This is pure speculation on your part. How many seasons is too many to wallow in a lower division, to make an extra season's revenue by tanking? If he spends 3 seasons down in IV, will it be worth it? Thats close to a RL year just to make it back to the level where he tanks. In this situation, how is he AHEAD of anyone?

That's why it's a forum, it's all opionin based.
You do it as long as needed, VS did for 7 seasons then won B3. BK Tutums is doing it right now after winning B3. How is that speculation? Actually don't answer that.
