Off topic -- Can Italian speakers understand written Spanish? (for example, I can't write or speak Portuguese, but can read & understand it.) Just curious.

I'd say so. My brother just went to Spain some day ago, and he just spoke Italian during the whole time :P

I'm sorry, but I just can't see how a guy from Italy can say that. I speak Italian pretty fluently and I know Italian is pretty different from Spanish. I would like to see an Italian with no knowledge of Spanish to read and actually understand a wikipedia entry in Spanish.

On topic: I think it's a great idea and would like to help a bit (can't put more time into it unfortunately), maybe in reviewing, adding something...

actually I can say you that I've had a look into the Spanish page of Buzzerbeater, I don't know nothing of Spanish (really), but knowing the game I can understand all the articles, also because many Spanish word are very similar to Italian.
example:
"En el que el jugador administra su propio club de baloncesto. Actualmente compuesto por 94 ligas nacionales, traducido a 40 idiomas y con más de 56.500 entrenadores y equipos de todo el mundo"
"Nel quale (ref to the previous sentence) il giocatore amministra il suo proprio club di pallacanestro. Attualmente composto da 94 campionati nazionali, tradotto in 40 lingue comn più di 56.500 allenatori e squadre di tutto il mondo".

And really I don't speak nothing of Spanish

Well yes, because you know the context. But if I asked you what "idiomas" was, would you know it was "players"? And it all gets even harder when listening to Spanish and trying to understand it. Anyway, we're way off topic, so I won't discuss it anymore, sorry

I spoke to BB-Marin about this issue and he told me that there was an entry years ago, but it got deleted (don't know why).

found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_delet.... It explains why it got deleted in 2008.

ideas, suggestions?

I think before writing it, you should try to make sure it won't just get deleted again. Maybe find sources, links, reviews...? I saw that there was a 2nd entry made & deleted in 2010. So be aware of that!

Nice, thank you!
The page has been deleted because it had no references and seemed to be an advertisement more than an article. I think this time BBs have to give us some precise references :)
I've already taken a look to the spanish page, but I'd like to start fresh (even though we can use it for a general idea).
The reason why the spanish and hungarian articles haven't been deleted is merely that every wikipedia has its rules and community... I mean: rules are (should be) the same, but some communities are more severe than others (as you can see the spanish entry as no reference at all). To me, this is madness, like in this situation you have a spanish article which is ok, and the english one has been deleted.

I can understand the general meaning just because 8 words out of 10 are really similar to italian.

Ugh, sorry but this is a great work, but not worth being on wikipedia, I think :)

If I get this right, you're listing the game players who have won most B3 titles?

What we should care here, I think, are just teams :)

Here's an example from the BuzzerBeater log-in page:
Spanish: "¡Bienvenido a BuzzerBeater! El mayor juego de Mánager de Baloncesto del mundo "

Portuguese: "Bem-vindo ao BuzzerBeater! O maior jogo de gestão de basquetebol do mundo"

So you can see how they are mutually intelligible. Someone can say "bem vindo" or I can say "bienvenido" & we both will understand that means "welcome".

But even among non-similar languages, there are related words. Like there's a Brazilian band named "Sepultura". English has the word "sepulture" (though rarely used), so even if I didn't know Spanish, I would still understand the meaning. That's what makes understanding much simpler than speaking.

More B3 titles, more World Cup titles and more Continental titles (European, etc.).

Actually there are two players winners of B3, World Championship and Continental Championship: Tapia and Delgadillo (B3 with VS, and World/Continental Championship with Chile).
