From my recollection (and I haven't played in 3 years, so its a bit hazy), you slowly gain ability in a formation as you play it. So stick with the 4-3-3 and you'll get better. Teams are always good at 4-4-2 by default.

Training is alot slower than in buzzerbeater to, think it takes around 8+ weeks to get a pop.

Really crazy slow. BB is slow, imagine seven weeks in a row with no pop being normal. Insane!

Back when I played 3-5-2 was the only way to win.

Also formed the first organised voting bloc in the game and got our guys elected. hehe.

Well doesn't your formation depend on your trainees? You tend to try maximise players in your training positions so if you are training midfielders, it would make sense to play 5 midfielders to maximise training

Yes, back when I played the GE was considered broken by the playerbase.

Just as LI is considered the norm here, 3-5-2 was the strategy there with an offensive minded coach.

It got to the point that the ht team started making changes to how def and off mind coach affected your team. 90% of the game played 3-5-2 with middling defenders and a very good keeper/strikers, was all about possessions as chances were capped at 10 attempts on goal per game. GE was probably rewritten in the time since.

This is many, many years ago. 2002 or so I think? I think Dire played back then, not sure if he still does... Pre character portraits etc. (although they brought that in as supporter only while I played).

Correct.

Teams are always good at 4-4-2 by default.

Incorrect. 4-4-2 works the same as any other formation.

Training is alot slower than in buzzerbeater to, think it takes around 8+ weeks to get a pop.

Incorrect. Around 2 - 4 weeks at the lower skill levels, 4 - 7 weeks at higher skill levels. (Some skills train quicker than others, too.)

That's how I remember it to, it was 3-5-2 or perish

I haven't played since about the time I started buzzerbeater, so probably 4 or 5 years ago. Maybe I'll give it another crack one of these days.

With the exception that 4-4-2 is already "default" when you start the game and your knowledge of the formation is at its best when you start the game. Picking any other formation, will mean you take a bit of a hit until you build up proficiency in that formation

Its been about a year since I last played but I think thats the way it worked..

Buzzerbeater needs to be played like a marathon.

Hattrick makes Buzzerbeater look like a 100m sprint.

It just takes soooo long...

Football Manager is just more fun...

That is correct. My players know how to play 4-4-2 but are clueless about 4-3-3. I have had a lot of help and am slowly making some progress but as many have said, there is no hurry, not much is happening.
