It´s so much easier to cheat if a player has your own name.

I would say if the player was an allstar you just don't need to worry about NT stuff because they are useless for national teams anyway. Giving people the ability to specify starting skills is too much, they should just be able to specify a position and then get a player with close to fixed skills (small random factor) for that position.

For example a SG has 5-7 JS, 5-7 JR, 5-7 OD, 3-5 HA, 3-5 DR, 3-5 PA, 2-4 IS etc.

I certainly like your idea of every starting team getting one and old teams getting another one every 10 seasons.

If they gave this to all new teams and everyone that has been playing 10+ seasons I agree it would be a big aid to keeping people connected to their team.

For old teams they would be able to specify their 3rd round draft pick as their "created player" before the draft next season.

Sounds like an interesting feature. I'd definitely love to create an own player. And doing that every 10 seasons sounds reasonable to me. I'm quite attached to my players from my starting-roster. But now after 10 seasons, they're either to old for training or have already reached their cap at Allstar-Potential. So I guess Allstar-Potential would definitely be a good idea. You have a competitive player even in higher leagues (even if it's as a backup in League 1) but he's not going to be the 200k+ Monster that can dominate every other player in BB.

Or maybe we could just create a player with low salary(let's say <1500$)/low potential that can just be kept on the roster as some kind of a mascot.

How about this:

instead of renaming a player AFTER the draft, you might fill in a player name -before- submitting your draft order for the cost of let´s say 10 Scouting points. One of your rookies will then carry that name (randomly chosen).

That will result in a lot of Kobe Bryants that are $2,000 salary role-players. Will that really make players happy and encourage them to keep playing if they are losing interest a bit?
